I like the following as alternatives
omnisphere
harmor
spectral
synthmaster
can always use the sample content of alchemy in other synths.
maybe add halion and mach 5 to that list as well.

hopefully they do not trash the work they did with alchemy and a buyer arises that will further develop the product line.

It's a win-win solution. :hihi:
Hee-hee, u-he is indeed great at bringing their little piggies to market quickly. If Alchemy did in fact disappear altogether I could see them rising to the challenge, though additive/granular/spectral/sample are all things they don't do now.

The U&I MetaSynth people could probably come up with something that sounds at least as good as Alchemy but they've done Mac-only standalones so far. Plogue (Bidule) has most/all the tech as well but would have to work hard on the UI.

Now there is an idea, never thought of that

Having a quick loo around and I'm really realizing that the options aren't great for mac users if you don't like dongles. Halion and mach 5 have dongles. Harmor is very cool but pretty messy right now in Alpha. Also as amazing as it's resynthesis sounds, no morphing between resynthesized sources. Omni isn't comparable even with it's the granular. Reaktor has a few simple granulars that are cool but not as pleasant to use as Alchemy and don't do the spectral/additive. So I guess I hope Alchemy 2 pops up somewhere before long!

I know they are NOT exactly the same feature-wise, but I've always thought that Diversion could probably cover some similar sonic territory to Alchemy.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Thank god, a mod had mercy and suspended this idiot from KVR. There is hope!

Yeah... that is the thing... there is nothing quite like Alchemy for Mac. Especially if you don't want a dongle.

When I think about it... Many plugins already replaced Alchemy the past few years.

Harmor: spectral resynthesis
Halion 5: granular synthesis (and sampling and VA and... so much Alchemy overlap)
Dune 2: VA and wavetable synthesis (when will the wavetable editor be available!)

To name a few...

The Alchemy libraries are/were great. I've got 20. Luckely the samples are in sfz format.

The best scenario would be that Steinberg/Yamaha bought Camel Audio. Halion 6 could be the 'be all end all' plugin with the Alchemy soundlibraries. Cubase with excellent audio and midi editing... with Halion (with Alchemy 2 tech) and score editing (created by the former Sibelius team).

If apple bought camel audio... that would be so sad!

I can guarantee you, this is not the case.
