In case your computer dies and you do not have the installer- oh, well. Will use other hundreds of plugins. I have it for a year- I used it may be five times. You talking about it like your favorite pet died and you want to preserve the body in formaldehyde to have memories of it. No tragedy. There will be more plugins. I keep buying them and so far I was not able to have them all.
It's not just a synth but one of the best ever created. There are no direct replacements. It's not like if Sylenth 1 suddenly became unavailable as it does have several replacements.

I have made sounds in Alchemy that I just could not make in any other synth I own or have tried and that's just about all of them.

I read in another forum some people who do ambient music/film work use it in every project so for them losing Alchemy could be a big loss.

But having said that as long as my studio computer doesn't die I'll still be using Alchemy for quite some time or hopefully until I retire from music.

We still don't know for sure if Alchemy is dead of if it's just Camel Audio or whatever the future holds. :)

indeed... and yet it still works on my system here...
i don't get people's reactions... i mean, your copy of Alchemy still works, no??
plus, we are not making 100 posts a day thread about opcode or quasimidi....
It's not what you use, it's how you use it...

Sometimes I make myself use Wavestation instead of Alchemy, just to force myself into a more creative headspace. Making something emotional out of those oh-so-polite ROMs can take me deeper inside the track. Whereas with Alchemy, the factory banks and my 10 expansions, I pretty quickly find exactly what I'm looking for.

On some level it feels like cheating.

What about those who wanted Alchemy and now can't buy it.......can you understand their reactions ?

Yes as I said above my copy of Alchemy works now and will hopefully still do so until I retire. As long as my studio computer does not experience a hardware or OS failure I should be able to use Alchemy and Camelspace for the foreseeable future. Should being the keyword........

The sheer number of posts in this thread equates to the feelings about Camel Audio and their software. As I said a hundred pages ago there are some developers who would have been pitchforked and torched to death by now for making such an announcement and others who could have ceased business and hardly generated any interest. Camel Audio is/was a popular developer. The size of this thread is witness to that fact........

Alchemy is on almost every Top Softsynth list I've read so any negative news about it is going to generate some emotional responses.

But as I also said nothing has been set in stone as of now so lets see what happens in the days, weeks, and months ahead..........

I own Wavestation as well and there is no way it can make some of the sounds I've gotten out of Alchemy.

I'll grant you that. But still and all it is in the ballpark. And as ball parks go, it is more football pitch than cricket oval.

Talk like that, maybe Korg could put sample capability in Wavestation. That would make it a lot closer.

Can't see them doing it, but.

This is not the News-thread, it's the BLA and esoteric assumptions-thread.

100%.
Add that regular customers paid 200 € or more for Alchemy and the libraries: money don't grow on trees.
I bought my licence in the marketplace one day before CA went out of business, but I'm happy because of the low price I paid and the fantastic instrument I have now. I can imagine that it's not so simple to say "Ok, let's buy another great synth tomorrow" for many of us.
Don't like to play the desperate widow, but we should understand all the worried reactions.

No, they are two completely different instruments. Both very good in their own rights but different....

Until Wavestation gets Granular and User Sample Import it's not even in the same country let alone the same ballpark......

The only "news" has to come from Camel Audio themselves and it's obvious they aren't talking right now so there is nothing left but to speculate. If the BLA bothers you then simply ignore this thread. I'm sure we'll all know it when and if CA makes an official announcement.

The BLA wasn't addressed at you in any way, so please continue.

haha was showering and boom 3 more pages here.

Oooooooookay but you should know that my value is 78 Camels. I have calculated it

I really wonder because I actually typed in my real age and so I expected:
Congrats, your value is 3 old, sick, almost dead Camels with broken legs. So better think it over if you really can afford me 8)

But on the plus side: I know already that you are showering. So maybe we can make the deal with just 70 Camels :hihi:
