Seems like an odd conclusion to draw.
If it where a buy out you would simply announce that your company has been bought out etc etc...we know the drill "we have been absorbed/merged by a division of X/Y/Z yada yada yada".
I don't own Alchemy (largely work with hardware) but the shut up shop without explanation just doesn't look good however you slice it.
