January 8, 2015

We would like to thank you for the support we've received over the years in our efforts to create instruments and effects plug-ins and sound libraries.

Camel Audio's plug-ins, Alchemy Mobile IAPs and sound libraries are no longer available for purchase. We will continue to provide downloads of your previous purchases and email support until July 7, 2015. We recommend you download all of your purchases and back them up so that you can continue to use them (Instructions: How to Download and Backup Your Products).

Well, sad, perhaps. But their iOS app was terrible.

Blasphemer! Everything they released was gold! Even their waste is museum quality!

It was pretty terrible, though. I deleted it in short order and didn't keep a backup. No regrets so far.

What was so terrible about it?
It works fine for me.

The timing rather sucks for me as I just bought an iPad 2 but hadn't installed the mobile app on it yet, now will I be able to and activate the pro upgrade?

Post

If you hadn't already bought it you won't be able to now.

If someone bought it on iTunes on their Mac or PC, they have it sitting their waiting to install to their iPad.
But nope on any upgrades/IAPs that haven't already been purchased.

Post

I have bought the full package (pro + all sound libraries). I recently reinstalled my iPad and I really can't see how I can get access to these IAPs anymore. When I restore,it says that one item was restored and then I can't see any of the sound libraries.

Yup... this is the part that sucks the most. When you're product is stored as part of a closed system like the Apple Store (and among the biggest issues when Redmatic went under).

This is why I don't want and will no longer support music software to be sold via Apple Store or Steam unless it's discounted so low I won't regret losing access to it should something happen to the developer or the store.

This type of stuff really sucks. At least when Kore 2 was discontinued there was a way to continue using it. If I had remained an Alchemy user, the Alchemy Pro mobile app was a great tool via iPad to control it.

Post

That's not good. I assumed that once the IAPs were bound to your account that you'd retain access to them. Even pulled apps can still be installed once they're in your account.

Post

Pretty sad day :( I really hope they made a deal with another good and trustful company. It would be nice if their code could kept alive in other plugins. Or the products itself could be released as a "reloaded" version, maybe with a redesigned ui and up-to-date fixes.

Post

I believe that you can load the camelsounds files (from the desktop app) into your iPad for use with the mobile app, but they are generally larger than the IOS libraries were.

It seems that the app and your receipts for IAPs are still in Apples cloud. But the sound files them selves aren't

A couple of people have reported getting e-mails fom Camel post closedown to say they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution.

Do you have the desktop versions of those sound libraries? - if so there is a way to install them into the mobile app.
