had not expect anything like that from CA. on the 29.12 i was downloading all my files and doing that i had some kind of strange feeling, about how long CA will be still there.

Sorry -- i gave up reading the thread after 37 pages...

... just want to chime in with my pointless prediction:

Bet you 14 Camel Credits that ROLI, makers of the Seaboard, bought the company. I have no information; purely a guess ;-)

this is a tough business. i used to look up to ben from camel for his success. now i should re-evaluate how i do business. i'm not as brilliant as the camel audio team, but on the other hand i wouldn't F my paying customers.

in the near term, i invite joe camel to sit on a glass rod! i was a sucker and i bought alchemy. i'm sorry.

Yeah, my company is in turmoil because we won't even consider buying a JUCE license now that Jules has become an indentured servant. There was already no support… The license costs over $1000. US… IMO it is wise to pass on that. If the SeaBoard ever becomes more popular than the http://www.hakenaudio.com/Continuum/, i'll print this post out and eat it.

I logged in and didn't see the Taste of Camel for Alchemy in my account, but I have it backed up. I was just wondering if I have the whole thing backed up correctly (hopefully!), is it around 579 megs?

Going out of business is not a form of wrongdoing toward customers. They didn't screw anyone. And they may be under an agreement not to say anything depending upon the reasons why they closed shop.

Why are people here so conspiratorial in their thinking and judgmental of anyone running a business? Damn, I'm glad people here aren't my customers.

OK, seems to me that you might just want to hold tight and see how Jules and ROLI handle JUCE over the next little while before committing to never doing something. ROLI's a pretty unusual company... the boss spent some time studying Zen... maybe it's not your regular kind of company? Just a thought anyhow -- you do as you wish mate, all the best to you.

And all the best to the Camel crew. I hope that everything is alright with them.

Yeah. It just happens. It can take up to a year to do any sort of buyout/merger.

What's that statement all about? You got a valid product. It still works very well now and will for a long time to come. I don't understand why anyone would feel that way. Just back it up and enjoy. The only people who kind of are SOL are the people who wanted to buy it and didn't get a chance to. I feel bad for them. Or guys like me who wanted to buy some of the sound banks and now will not be able to. To all of us that own a license to use Alchemy, we own a little piece of VST history and at least I'm proud to be part of that. No one really gets fcoked here. I'm very happy that they at least gave us a chance to download all of our Camel Audio stuff instead of just shutting down the servers completely. I got mine nice and tidy away and that's that. Thank's Camel Audio for having the heart to at least let us download and back up our investments. They showed that regardless of what's going on, they had their customers best interest at heart. :)

That was big of them.
