On the list.

The problem with Cube is dev commitment - it has been recently updated to 64 bit but after a huge wait and no new features for years.

Hmmm, good to know, we had all of that with Alchemy so maybe off the list again.

Don't forget the vibra-slap.
You can even make your own if you happen to find a dead ass on the road.

i just found out the other day that it finally went x64! it could be worth the upgrade fee to see if the camel library source sounds help the "plastic-y sound" that i seem to remember. alchemy replaced cube for me...it was a pretty major improvement.
honestly, i was sort of surprised to find that virsyn is still around...they'd been quiet for quite some time.

... finally. :)

The only thing that was not clear, for me, after seeing the video, was about the possibility to make complex sample maps but from the pictures at the bottom of the page, it seems that you can assign round robin, velocity etc.

Nice !

Alchemy has found its successor

Does it do spectral resynthesis? I'm not seeing it listed on the old feature list or the new one either ... or is that what this is, "Sampled soundsources can be processed with synthesis features"? It does look like a beast regardless.

Let's see when they deliver and at what price, could be interesting.

Post

No I don't think it's a complete replacement, it doesn't have additive or spectral features. Nothing can completely replace Alchemy at the moment, that is clear. But it's possibly the best of what there is, with maybe Harmor or Cycle covering the Spectral stuff.

400€ new and around 200 for the upgrade.

There is no spectral/additive synthesis but FM.

Additive/spectral resynthesis is a very tricky pony to code, so most devs keep away from it, at least all the ones I have asked so far.
