I don't think there is any proof its Apple.Could also be Avid and they have just launched their new upgrade scheme so customers would be expecting decent updates with new included features each Pro Tools update.

Not sure how you get anything out of this.Breeze wrote:If it does turn out to be the fruity co, I have to admit that it'll give me some measure of selfish satisfaction to see all the frustrated and angry PC-only users experience the same feelings of helplessness and frustration that I experienced when they dumped Logic PC-users on their acquisition of Emagic a decade ago.
It would not only hurt PC users though.
If they don't deconstruct it for spare parts (which they did with Shake and other software and which would be the most devastating move), it would probably become AU only if not Logic/Mainstage only, so even Mac users couldn't use it in - for instance - Bitwig Studio and other VST-only hosts.
It would also crush any hope of Alchemy going Linux ever - something I actually did hope would happen at one point in the future if Linux continues to improve audiowise.
Those big company acquisition are rare to do anybody much good in the long run. Even if they keep Alchemy alive, it will probably no longer evolve as much as it did.
I personally was burnt by many such things in the past, the worst one being Autodesk buying Softimage XSI, which after agonizing years of paid-for stagnation they finally dumped last year to the trashcan of software history.
I just get sad each time it happens.
Cheers,
Tom

I am absolutely gutted.
I was forced to sell my copy due to a cash flow crisis always with the intent of getting it back or getting Alchemy 2 when it arrived.
I loved using it, it was such a massive sound and now ive moved into new areas with production I was goign to get it back sooner rather than later.
Seems I missed the boat.
But I will say this, as I still have a couple of camel plugs, I love their stuff and it is a true shame to see them go. I cannot believe I am gonna miss the boat with Alchemy now. (sad face)

If it's true then good for Ben and Co. I hope they all got a nice chunk of money. I would do the same thing I'm sure. Good luck to all.
Time to move on............

I'm not so sure that CA's only appeal is from their desktop apps only. They seemed to totally embrace the iPad and had a pretty sweet setup between the iPad and the desktop apps. If Apple did close the deal it may involve more than just a quick ip purchase. CA may have signed a deal more involved than that.

A deal to shut out most of its users. All praise the walled garden!UncleAge wrote:I'm not so sure that CA's only appeal is from their desktop apps only. The iOS version of Alchemy must have been some potent bait for Apple if the acquisition turns out to be true ^^UncleAge wrote:I'm not so sure that CA's only appeal is from their desktop apps only. Indeed. Why assume its going to be rolled into Logic? I hear that Logic 11 is going to be released as GardenShedBand on iOS only.Phase47 wrote:The iOS version of Alchemy must have been some potent bait for Apple if the acquisition turns out to be true ^^UncleAge wrote:I'm not so sure that CA's only appeal is from their desktop apps only. If it is Apple you won't see camel tech on anything but the iPad imo. A single successful app probably makes more money that all the logic sales combined. Especially with all that in app purchase content they will also own.

It goes back to the reasonably reliable tidbit that started things off today:

Once again, minimum ten million dollars to code AU plugins? I don't know.masterhiggins wrote:If you read Chris Randall's tweet he hinted that Alchemy is going to be rolled into Logic. At least that's what I gathered from it.standalone wrote:Ten million dollars for a software synth to be released for Logic? Apple has bought their technology, not their plugins. If they keep on releasing them it would be as a hobby, I guess.masterhiggins wrote:I kind of hope it was Apple. In that case all previous libraries would probably be rolled into Logic. That's what they did with the exs24 libraries that were separately released by Emagic. Looking good so far for logic users. Everyone else...not so much. Fortunately I use Logic.

They want to boost Siri to compete with Microsoft's Cortana. And maybe they release plugins for Logic too.

Judging how the outdated Logic synths (not necessary bad, just no progress) are since Logic 7, they probably can use some help w talents. Their supposedly "new" Retro Synth in Logic X sounds and acts like a re-skinned ES2 more than anything.kiezum wrote:If apple bough camel audio... It would be sad... For all windows users.
I wonder why apple would invest this much money in music software technology. Is Alchemy 2 a gamechanger?
