Case in point: here is a song I recorded in Band in a Box. I typed in the chords (five minutes) picked a style (in this case "medium rock") slapped a vocal track over it and added a sketch of a vocal effect that I want to develop. All told, it took a couple hours because of my Aspberger's.

It's all software, no real instruments.
I want to take this framework and record over it, track by track. when I think I have a take that is better than what BIAB generated I will replace it. I like working this way because I have a full mix from the start.
Anyone else have any ideas on getting up and running using a similar strategy?
Anyone here use Band In a Box for pre-production?

The song is fun and sassy as-is, to me the sound/production fits the lyrics. I don't think you need to remake it, though the FX are a little distracting from the main vocal. Sometimes trying to improve on a completed demo is more trouble than it's worth.
That said, the melody, chord progression, and vocal hook are all catchy so they're totally worth developing if that's what you really want. And...I have a sneaking suspicion you actually do want to be a part of Daisy's world.

Thanks for your comments. I s'pose I could just keep it as is, though I would want to add an instrumental break after the second chorus. And yea, the song is about that sinking feeling of self-loathing when you are attracted to someone who you really can't stand.

I use BIAB all the time. I also belong to a songwriters forum where it's considered the bane of song creation.
If you are using realstyles (and it sounds to me like you are) then it is real instruments.
Usually I'll outline a song in biab with all the changes then port into real band and go about replacing all the parts save the drums and maybe the bassline.
Although I mostly use biab for jam alongs. It's a jazz musicians best friend. I used to use it constantly to keep up my chops practicing for gigs and as an instructional aid to my students.
