I am not sure Camel Audio has been sold.... Do not know why, just a feeling....
Oh, and with the new AlchemyWin installer there was no Alchemy2 folder created anywhere....
I am now of two minds about this.... It seems like they are letting go, but it could be circling the wagons before releasing - what?

Sorry, but that is just silly.tehlord wrote:The real quiet ones here are Spectrasonics.
I think Apple have bought them too, and paid Camel 'shutup and go away' money to remove the main competition from Omnisphere being integrated into Logic. .
While things around Spectrasonics might be "quiet", they sure as hell aren't gone.
Eric Persing comes from hardware days. Heck even his software is "hardware priced", which is a lot of wood for a lot of people (mainly hobby musicians who are used to 49-99USD "gadgets"). But considering what people "get" through the years for free - it's a bargain, not to mention easier to upgrade/update than hardware.
Yes, Stylus RMX could see a v2 (the evolution of RMX1 was great!). Yes, Athmosphere could be re-released, Trillian could be enhanced as well. But Omnisphere is still running strong and there are add-on patch releases pretty much every other month as absolute max.
I don't see them vanish any time soon.
Also... Now I think that the cat is out of the bag with Apple and co... why do we still speculate?
EDIT:
Synapse Audio ORION was bought by Image Line? Really? I know that ORION was always under the radar but I hear about a "buyout" for the first time.

Yep.vimanaboy wrote:Is anyone able to restore Alchemy Mobile library purchases? It seems to be gone from the App Store and when I go to Restore it says there's nothing to restore
I'm not really worried about it though - the app to invest in right now is Korg's Gadget - they recently came out with a Rompler module (the add-on's sound great!) and they're promising audio recording and I'm assuming integration with polysix and ms20 -
I'm not really using it seriously yet, but it's hella fun to play with, and looks like it'll dominate our ApePads over time!
Anyway: There are other cool-sounding synth's in ios-world besides Alchemy - I know that it sucks to lose Alc's libraries (at least for now - and I had them all since they were dirt cheap) but *at least* you and I have Apepad (and Jobsfone) Alchemy!

Then, why would they shut down the website and tell everybody to download and backup, allow license transfers, etc. That would be a surefire way to piss off their customers if they were to suddenly say "guess what? False alarm!"dnekm wrote:I am not sure Camel Audio has been sold.... Do not know why, just a feeling....

I guess he means "not sold to anyone else", but just closed, definitively (as in "the end"). That's what I think, too: Camel Audio are not infact technology developers (such as redmatica, propellerheads, celemony etc.), they had no technology to sell, only plugins.cryophonik wrote:Then, why would they shut down the website and tell everybody to download and backup, allow license transfers, etc. That would be a surefire way to piss off their customers if they were to suddenly say "guess what? Ahhh, that could be, but this part threw me off a bit:

IMO someone in the CA equipe found a better occupation, I mean... a very convenient offer from some big company (could be Apple, whatever: they wanted the man/men for his/their talent, not their products). That's why CA closed. Something like that, I guess.
Regarding the lack of forewarn, it's obviously understandable, how could Ben or whoever write things like: "maybe I am going to change my job, so I am not sure wether CA will survive or not"...
(sorry for broken english, I hope it's clear enough)
