There are a lot of different screen resolutions nowadays and some seem to be more problematic than others. Here you can see ProTools' menu all messed up on a Surface Pro 3 with the default resolution:

I'm running v8 on a 27" 2560x1440 and it's wonderful.

My understanding is that "Retina" isn't a technology, and doesn't refer to resolution alone...it's a marketing term for any Apple product with a dpi that's higher than some arbitrary number that Steve Jobs set as better than the "average" user's visual acuity at an "average" distance. There are many displays with higher dpi than Retina displays which don't come from Apple (see all the new, useless, tiny 4 and 5K monitors - the large ones are great). And there are many Apple products with "Retina" displays that have low resolution (such as the iPhone).

I don't think "Retina" is a very useful term when discussing tech, even if you use Apple products exclusively, which most people do not. It's just not very techie  What matters to me is how my software performs as I switch resolutions between monitors.

When a single gpu can run a 4k monitor well, then I'll upgrade to a 32." Anything smaller than that is wasted tech, according to experts.

That is exactly the question being asked at the steinberg forum.

BTW slightly off topic but not, I've never seen a better advertisement for Cubase and a touch screen than this:

Probably among others that are ignored.

I wonder why legit questions and pressing problems are constantly being ignored?

I mean, I had to write Steinberg today again, this time due to Wavelab's metering and analysis tool totally being off. Especially after heavily using the Loudness Normalization modes and in direct comparision to time-tested third party metering tools. For me as AE that is reliant on correct metering and sticking to certain standards, an absolute No-No. I wonder how many (paid) updates it will take to fix that.

Isn't that technically one of the bigger WACOM Tablet's? In combination with one of the old/discontinued Steinberg CMC modules if I saw that right.

Sure is some intuitive editing right there. Wish I had that access to that kind of setup during the last 2 months myself. Maybe things would have been even faster in terms of mass editing tracks.

Wait, since when can we change our username? Or was that a second account?

Name changing can be done, but you have to PM Ben about it. This isn't that, though.

Well they did address it. Said it was fairly difficult and involved, and they have parts of it working already and I think they want to update 7 and 8 but don't quote me on that.

I bought Cubase 8 mainly for the VST connect feature but I must say this. What's with the Cubase 8 arranger scrollbars?? Could they make them any thinner and awkward to use? At least with Samplitude you have a well-designed scrollbar with the option to zoom in or out by grabbing the edges.

what's wrong with ctrl/shift+mousewheel, and assigning some shortkeys to the track height ?

You can use Ctrl+Alt to zoom horizontally but so far I've found no way to assign the mouse wheel to zoom vertically.

@Kraznet: Re: Samp.

I was glad to finally be able to play with VCA's in Samp after seeing all those cool pictures of ghost faders and all that in Seqouia. Q: Did they intentionally kinda semi-cripple the Samp implementation to maybe not harm the value of Sequoia? It seems like an awfully limited implementation for such a really great product.

Thanks Kraz.

Hi Lawrence,

VCA's in Samplitude Pro X2 are exactly the same as they are implemented in Sequoia. In what way do mean semi-crippled implementation?

Cheers

Hey Kraz, thanks for answering. I hope my question didn't come off as unfairly bashing or anything, I actually thought they might be different (and there is no Sequoia demo that i can find so i made that leap) and part of my impression just might be user error.

What I was looking for was what PT and Pyramix and simlar do, coalese the VCA automation or gain if or when you remove a VCA master or remove a child from the group. But again, my observation might be premature, I've only had the demo for a day. If you're familar with PT and/or Pyramix (maybe the only two older examples before Cubase) you'll know what i mean.

Thanks Kraz.
