Ten years ago I was in a classic rock band; during the breaks there was a dj, and holy moly, when they played Big&Rich 'Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy' that dance floor filled up quick.
"Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" is still one of their best songs! 8)

...nevertheless I defend the Country genre here I found something "formulaic" in the way lyrics are done. for a real good Country song Terms like "Pick-up truck" and "parking lot" have to appear in a song... :P :ud:

That's all you need to write a big country hit.
No chicks? :o :help:
That's in the "cheating" part. It's not COUNTRY unless the guy/girl/truck/horse is cheating! :hihi:

A couple of them are off...gees its a 6 minute intro...it doesn't mean country music is all the same..those were intros...if they compared choruses, then you'd have something.

But Joan Osborne can do almost ANYTHING well - rock, soul, country, weirdness like that song "Pensacola" on the first album.

I was going to suggest Stan Ridgway, who's got that country western white trash aesthetic down pat.

It was also at that time a very non-formulaic country song. Not today.

Even though I generally don't give a crap about country music, I did see him live in Brussels and in London.
Big fun :)
