Hi Lawrence,
I'm not quite sure what you mean by coalescing the automation. Can you give me an example? I've never tried VCA's in Pro Tools or Pyramix but I have Cubase 8 to test on.
Cheers

Record some automation on a VCA Master in Cubase and them remove (delete) the VCA Master track or unassign a child track. You should get a warning dialog asking you to coalese the automation (or not) so that the mix balance maybe doesn't change when the influence of the VCA master gain or trim on the child is no longer there.
Anyway, it's a Cubase thread so I don't want to go too far off topic, you're just really the only guy I kinda know who knows Samp really well (the Samp guru) so when I saw you posting I asked.

Thanks Lawrence I'll give a shot in Cubase and then if indeed it doesn't work in Samplitude I will make a feature request to Magix. Incidentally while you're testing VCA's in Samp , in case you wonder, nested VCA's aren't supported at this time but they will happen in a future patch.LawrenceF wrote:Record some automation on a VCA Master in Cubase and them remove (delete) the VCA Master track or unassign a child track. Yeah, that was also part of it overall but i didn't say it. You do have to carefully temper or frame questions like that on KVR or somebody always goes batshit and starts raging.
Thanks K. Good to know.

there is no mouse wheel based vertical zooming (been asked many times in their forum) , I'm using these keys currently (configured to my left hand, workflow in Cubase is heavily shortkey based)Kraznet wrote:You can use Ctrl+Alt to zoom horizontally but so far I've found no way to assign the mouse wheel to zoom vertically.xbitz wrote:what's wrong with ctrl/shift+mousewheel, and assigning some shortkeys to the track height ?Kraznet wrote:I bought Cubase 8 mainly for the VST connect feature but I must say this. What's with the Cubase 8 arranger scrollbars??

actually never touched scrollbars, zoom to track row, zoom to selection + undo zoom is quite nice combo one using it often

The 16:10 equivalent of 1080P is 1200P; not 1050P.Compyfox wrote: I am currently running 1080p myself (actually... 1050p, since it's still a 16:10 LCD),

My max screen resolution is 1680x1050p - and I'm using two 22" LCDs. Wish I could go higher. But well, these LCD's are from 2008 and they didn't fail me so far. I had two 15" 1024x768 4:3 LCDs before that.

I have a 22" 1680x1050 for my gaming PC... saves me money on the graphics card.Compyfox wrote:My max screen resolution is 1680x1050p - and I'm using two 22" LCDs. Wish I could go higher. But well, these LCD's are from 2008 and they didn't fail me so far. I had two 15" 1024x768 4:3 LCDs before that.
The change from 16:10 to 16:9 has not been a good evolution; not for people that don't watch movies on their PC screen.

I'm actually demoing Cubase 7 Element and was watching this Cubase Pro 8 presentation video .
I'm surprised to learn that when I group some tracks and move the group fader it doesn't keep the "volume" relation between tracks as a VCA fader would.
I would like to know if when I "link selected tracks" the relation is kept ...I guess yes but just to be sure.
Thanx

What are you even talking about?T-CM11 wrote:I have a 22" 1680x1050 for my gaming PC... saves me money on the graphics card.Compyfox wrote:My max screen resolution is 1680x1050p - and I'm using two 22" LCDs. 16:9 screens these days are full 1080p or even already 4k (larger than 22"). The days of 900px height are long over, or limited to cheap tablet PCs. And it's not a "graphics card saver" either. Fullscreen is stretched in strange ways (especially in lower resolutions - as the ratio doesn't work anymore) - so I more than welcome 16:9 screens - even as "not movie watcher".
To get back on topic however:
Did Cubase get an update on the time stretching and pitch shifting algo's? Weren't Celemony's SDK's updated in recent months? The MPEX Algo's are slowly showing it's age.

Plenty of 1600x900 monitors. And I didn't say that they're still popular.
Stretched? Wtf are YOU talking about? Scaling proportionally is an option in every graphics driver. And even in a lot of monitors. And every game has 16:10 resolutions supported anyway.
And yes, it IS a graphics card saver. Because I can pick a lower resolution than 1080P without scaling/interpolation = play at my monitor's native resolution.
