A group buy that's in direct contact with the developer is a scam how? Please explain.

lemme just ask you a simple question..pfung wrote:A word of caution...sooner or later somebody is going to get scamed. I don't trust these group buy thing...you want the risk? You take the risk...and don't go crying later on when you have been cheated.
I'm not saying that all these "group buy" groups here are frauds...but just be careful...it doesn't make it safe just becasue 100s of people jumped in....
just my 2 cents

Are you a f**king retard?
Can you please tell me how these group buys with established credentials supported by the developers will end up as a scam?
Oh yeah, I just realized..we WILL get ripped off if the devs send us cracked copies instead of the real deal..

So what's the next big group buy?
ImpOscar? Atmosphere? Ravity? Tera? Anyone???
I don't know any other big name synths that I haven't already shelled out for...
I think I'd definately buy Cantor if it was half the price....
Vorn.

PS--I just noticed that my pointless, not-very-funny post quotient is maxed out, so I'll shut up or maybe try to say something helpful in some other thread...

well obviously.. because the developers are really undercover CIA agents who work for the Illuminati, collecting valuable data about musical preferences and devil worshipping.. they get your credit card details to finance the exodus to the nearest inhabitable planet where they will start a new world order, worshipping the pagan gods of spanking and other kinky, sex-related activities

Okay, so how do I know I'm safe with 'my retailer?' - I mean, I walk into the shop, I pick up the box and pay something like 40% over the odds for it. Great. But how do I know they haven't printed up the boxes themselves, and put a pirate CD inside? Eh? How do I guarantee that? Eh? Eh? How do I really know?
And even if (by some miracle, obviously) it is a legit copy, how do I know they won't suddenly 'go bankrupt', owing the developers lots of money for all the stock they've sold? Eh? Eh? I mean, someone's going to get burned if we don't keep an eye on these retailers...
You don't work for my retailer by any chance, do you?

thanks for the warning - only it comes a bit too latepfung wrote:A word of caution...sooner or later somebody is going to get scamed. I don't trust these group buy thing...you want the risk? You take the risk...and don't go crying later on when you have been cheated.
But then again, it is something worth "investing" in. I personally won't even bother checking how much of a discount you are getting. Not that I am rich or anything...I buy all my synths, keyboard, ect. with my hard earn money. It gives me the satisifacotry knowing that I worked hard for these instruments. Of course, I still go shop aroung for the best deal...but why take the "group buy" risk when you know you are safe with your retailer?

Why do the words of the wiseman always only reach my ear when it's already too late?
Could you maybe p.m. me your e-mail adress?
- Then I could ask you for advice every time I have to do a serious decision.
It's always good to know there are wise people who we can trust and who help us finding our course trough the thorny path of life.
Thank you for your kind and helpful words, pfung!
