I mean, a more polished bank. Synths which sound well but dont have many patches or sound designers seems to forget them. But please don't go for the über difficult/very old and hyper complex gui ones Its better to work comfortable with a clear gui or a decent skin.

I see lots and lots of new synths around the forum, but for example the old gems or even not so old synths from last couple years or so are not getting a lot of work done in that department.

I have the idea for the post that maybe you could name some synths. for example, I know some synths that have a lot of patches, but there are recent synths which are more powerful that could have some banks by the people on this forum.

I would like to get some ideas from you. I would like to test my hands on something different (im used to the free vst). Of course its open to anyone who wants to test his patch design ability :D

I havent found a post about the idea because its overall and about every synth you know it could be done. Even if it has just been realeased or its old or even free.

Free or not, I am open to ideas. Hope you like it. Thanks and sorry for my crap english, as always.

Synth1 has a lousy default bank. It would be great if it came with a selection of sounds from some of all the patchbanks out there, to anyone just discovering the synth, they may be put off what it's capable of, going on the 'factory' sounds alone.

Yes the forum here has a lot of provided soundbanks for it and there is more on the web, but a top class default bank would be cool.

I wonder where the patches for Dune 2 are? I see a lot of banks made for Spire (mostly EDM), and a lot of banks for the u-he synths posted in this forum, and elsewhere. There's a lot of talk about Dune 2 here. But where are the banks, commercial or not?

I was wondering the same thing, its one reason I ended up selling it. The default bank is stellar, but it just didn't cut it for "goto" bread and butter dance sounds diversity wise only having that.

That's not to say it isn't an absolutely stellar synth for many sounds. I quite enjoyed programming my own patches in it despite the UI being a little clunky once you get down and dirty.

Strike Thor from the list.

Pay €100+ to upgrade Reason, and get no new Thor patches :help:

Look for Bigtone bank here on the patches section. That is for sure a professional bank for synth1, then look at kaiyoti bank, another pro (this time shorter). That is the bank which started it all for me (I started designing acoustic emulations for synth1, mega hard with only 2 oscs). OF course Nolwenn banks another PRO quality winner.

The same happens with oatmeal, an über synth with too much bread and butter patches... I find It rivals synth1 perfectly (even better in some areas) and everyone keeps designing the same banks over and over... I may do something for oatmeal. We need someone with expertise to do what bigtone did with synth1 on oatmeal.

A synth that is discontinued with incredible potential was M-theory, I managed to get an exact replica of PM patches with that synth, even perfect acoustic guitar the pity was the problem with dual core and the synth is pretty much unusable now.

Dune 2 is a fantastic synth and very recent. What happens to basille, Diva, and all those recent synths?

Thanks for the responses.

I don't get why there aren't as much commercial (or not) patch banks for DUNE 2 out there. DUNE 2 has become really popular around these forums, but it seems it's not as popular on the outside?. In contrast, you see way more patch banks for Spire, or even Serum, which is way newer. Why is that? Such an amazing synth (as well as the others I mentioned).

I don't really think Bazille is a synth people buy for presets.

:tu: Got almost all of the available patches for synth1. It would be good if the dev was to select sounds from some of them and provide three or four top notch banks to get new users started. When I first discovered synth1, I was lucky that there was already a massive collection out there, the factory bank soon got relegated to a zip :hihi:

dunno, I might buy presets for it, even just for learning purposes it's nice to see how people approach designing different sounds on a modular. It's also a monster of a synth and sounds great.

I learned FM this way, modifying sytrus patches. And then subtractive synthesis with small synths like simsynth, wasp, synth1, oatmeal... The most complicated thing on a synth is the modular parts like matrix or FM, for example Zynaddsubfx I do not recommend to learn programming a synth neither crystal, they are very complex visually but very very powerfull synths even today. If you work on a synth which is well designed and is visually easier then you will make patches 10x faster.

Take oatmeal for example and the new skins, when I used oatmeal with its first default skin I couldnt understand a thing even If I understood all the sections from other synths. Then I tested one of the last skins (really some of the very best I have seen) and I could make patches again, fast.

Not even today after 12 years into subtractive synths I will touch zynadd or crystal to make patches. There are way cleaner and slick synths out there like Dune2 or diva or all the free jewels :D

Honestly many synths are covered quite well. There are a few however I would like to see more activity with, especially since I lean more towards preset tweaking than making my own sounds.

Iris 2- Yes this is new, complicated, and convoluted. But I desperately want to see patchpool deliver on this. Right now most of the included samples are not even touched. I think it has potential and yet is a far cry from being where it should be.

Diversion- This is such a great synth. The sounds it has are awesome. I need more.

Largo- The banks for this are few and far between. Why? The synth is powerful and well structured. It just deserves strong soundbanks from strong sound designers.

LuSH-101- Again a strong synth that does not have a lot of people working on soundbanks for it.

Spectral- I love the sound. Where are the banks?

Codex- I think this got lost in the love for Serum. Serum has some great banks getting started out there. Codex does not, but not because it is less able of a synth.

BAZILLE!!! ;)
