Omnisphere 1

Post

I find Komplete and Omnisphere to compliment eachother very nicely. To be honest I find myself using Omnisphere in place of Kontakt besides for things like drums and orchestral stuff alot of the time, the included guitars pianos and other instruments are quite good. I don't use Reaktor for much besides Monark which is amazing for bass. Absynth is great at many of the things Omnisphere is and has its own distinct character which complements Omni quite nicely. I never really liked Massive... Don't like the sound, don't like the UI. The solid mix series included with Komplete works well to my ears. I would also take Battery 4 over Stylus RMX anyday unless they update it. It's a really solid program which everything you need to make good beats and more if that's what you are into.

Komplete Ultimate didn't really appeal to me as you mainly just get a bunch of middleware for Kontakt and Reaktor. If you are doing scoring it may be worth it but otherwise I would personally steer clear.

Yeah I avoided Komplete 10 Ultimate, I'm still on Komplete 9 (basic? ha ha) and frankly am kind of underwhelmed with the sample material included; exception "Gigantic" or whatever massive piano, very useful that one.

I got Komplete for Absynth, Massive, and Kontakt, really. And it was on sale. And Kontakt was for a "gateway" to more specialized orchestral stuff, which I have not yet expanded upon.

If I had to pick one of the other... Dammit... Really difficult. Komplete and Omnisphere at a bare minimum. Mainly because Omnisphere comes with a massive chunk of Spectrasonics' sample libraries (Distorted Reality 2 was my first Akai library purchase, bwa ha ha!).

thanks a lot. i think im gonna end up getting both , you know how it works, people always want what they dont have, just because they think it is the "one" product they would ever need.

For those of you who own either K-ulti or omnisphere: Did you regret it afterwards, or would you buy it again?

It's a blessing and a curse. Well, after the way this year is going, I expect nothing but misery and hardship :ud:

I kinda regret Omni. It was gas. EXPENSIVE gas, and though it's been stable and has mostly run well on my system, nothing every really got my attention. Komplete (I have 9) has a ton of very useful things.

It's just my opinion.

thats a cooler...

both NI and spectrasonics dont make it too easy for us- theres no demo for omnisphere, and NI makes us looking stupid not to pay 1k for everything for the price of the 4-5 products we were looking for ;)

Nevermind, lets see what happens this week

Cheers

I would buy both again. In a heartbeat. Before uhe or any of the others. Probably sell off some non-vital organs to get them if I had to. KU and Omnisphere plus my DAW would be my desert island setup. Thankfully I'm not on a desert island, mind you - I loves me my Zebra! ;)

From Komplete, the only thing I have which is indispensable is the peerless Kontakt, and that's to host 3rd party stuff. There's loads of other great stuff (I have 10U), but wouldn't class any as indispensable. Oh, maybe Guitar Rig, but I'd probably be fine with a competitor if I bothered to learn it.

By contrast, I'd defend all three Spectrasonics products with guns. I use them in practically everything, even Stylus which has such a dire need of an overhaul. I find them so versatile and quick to work with and manipulate, it's still my first port of call. They always feel very musical, if that makes sense - designed by musicians, not just software engineers. Speed of working is important to me, I should add - media composer, so need to work fast in pretty much any genre imaginable.

It's been staggering to me how I've used these three products to the exclusion of almost every alternate I own, something about their workflow and quality clearly chimes with me, hence the giddy excitement at anything new. I've bought so many products that seemed a great idea at the time, but never get used because they're under-developed in some way. Battery is a good example - 4 is much better than 3, but as a product it's still far inferior to Stylus because they never added any smart way to work with loops, or a sequencer. It always just feels like half a product. Or Breaktweaker - probably my single most redundant purchase is the past couple of years. It's in dire need of another year or two on the workbench.

That's the difference with Spectrasonics. What they do, they excel at.

Omnisphere is the single best purchase I've ever made, it's worth every penny. Komplete is a great bang for the buck, but if I have to choose one, I'd choose Omnisphere every time. Like noiseboyuk, I'm a media composer and still haven't found anything that comes close to Omnisphere's quality and intuitive workflow (I don't even use presets). Possible sample import and expanded synthesis capabilities would render 95% of my other synth purchases useless.

People, comparing Omnisphere & Komplete is like an episode of Desperate Housevives, without any blood spilt.

They're nothing alike.

A man and his favorite tools shall never be parted. Jeez...

Codestation wrote:Gonga agreed, which is kind of why I play with both, but still the options you suggested would make some things on a keyboard SO much... don't know how to put it; so much more bloody playable, for lack of a more immediately gratifying phrase.

You know the thing is, with Spectrasonics... I kind of don't want them to release something new. I know this is like... heresy... but I've barely scratched the surface of what can be done with Omnisphere, Trillian and RMX. OK I do find RMX a pain in the but in some ways, but still...

But it's Spectrasonics, and this is KVR, so yeah, take my frickin' money too! :help:
:hihi:

And I totally agree that these plugs are really great. I have a long-term affair with RMX, but like you it's better described as a love-hate thing

As good as Omni is, it's sound quality doesn't quite stand up to the best from NI, or U-He. I don't use distortion on Omni's analog engine because the aliasing is nasty. Butthey must have been trying to keep CPU cycles reasonable. So, my guess is next thing from them will eat more CPU.
