Hi there.

I'm new on this forum. As you can tell from my nickname I'm a real Dr.Who fan, especially the Jon Pertwee area (1970-'74), and I started creating my own music again a month ago. I use Anvil Studio. I try to make something like americana-ish music. Why the 'ish'? Because I think I'm making it a bit different than it should sound.. I guess.

As for my 'fiddlin'' Q, as my title stated', I am looking for a virtual yet realistic Fiddle sound. I've seen some
of the topics regarding this instrument up here, but as the topics go waaay back to 2005 and I've tried to
click on a few links, they are as good as 'dead'. Sooo.. Can anybody help me plz?

Doctor Who and Americana... What an unlikely combo. I presume you mean new Doctor Who and not classic?

I can't help with the fiddle. I'm just here for the Doctor Who [no meme photo].

about the effects and not the story.

Anyway... On-Topic with the fiddle q: As I saw a few youtube links on this forum about how to use an instrument (mandolin for instance) in Kontakt, I noticed that you have to press one of the 'red' keys at the same time with the 'blue' keys when playing a note.
Bottom line is I am only capable of using one hand. I'm physically disabled. Anyway, is there a fiddle vst that I can cope using one hand only? I know you can play a virtual keyboard by using the mouse, but as I've seen the 'how-to-use' of the mandolin film, I still
got the feeling that you need both hands.

Anyone getting this? LOL. I hope I explained it clearly.

Sounds like a breath controller would be useful to you, if anyone bothered making those any more. How about foot controls, like a CC pedal or switch?

BTW: it took me time to get used to it, but new Doctor Who is still my Doctor Who. It's just bigger / more dramatic

I'll always have the soft spot for classic (I wish there were more seasons of 5th, 6th, and 7th Doctors), but that's because I grew up with them

Recreating a realistic fiddle can be difficult and frustrating, especially if you mean the way it is played in non classical music. You have to understand both what's going on with the instrument and also how the player approaches it in a given style. Probably less hassle to find a fiddle player and record the real thing. If you must go down the virtual route a sample based instrument is probably best but you'll have to learn how to use midi editing in your DAW. I've used the solo violin from Vienna Instruments in the past but it's not cheap and even so you have to learn to play to its strengths and use some smoke and mirrors to disguise its shortcomings.

@Dusted William: I know about the misfit fiddle. Sounds nice. Although in the video on their website is seen that he is
playing the 'switch keys' with another keyboard on top of the other. (MIDI keyboard?) But is it feasible by just using the mouse only too?
Or do you need both hands with that? As I said before I can only use my left hand.

You could program the switch changes in the midi file.
