It seems that Camel appointed a new Company Secretary back in November 2013, named Joan Saywood, who has a CV full of experience with flotations, buy-outs, mergers, raising venture capital packages and the like. It doesn't tell us what's happened, but it certainly confirms that something like this has been on the cards for a while and that Ben brought in someone local with experience dealing with the big boys. Very sensible too (though I still hope he counted his fingers after shaking on the deal).

Camel Audio was profitable, solvent, successful and had great prospects. Whether they've been bought as a going concern or whether they've been assimilated, perhaps the only surprise is that a very-nearly-ready Alchemy 2 wasn't released first. Either someone has plans to release it or the code/research involved is going to be broken down and used as parts in something else. Either way, it may be more expensive or, indeed, impossible for existing Alchemy owners to get access to Alchemy 2 technology. And we may never find out exactly what happened. Not much else to say, really, except that Alchemy 1 is still great. Roll on 4000 posts!
Now, don't go sticking any facts in this thread. Baseless speculation only please!

Best title evvah! Seriously. If you for some reason decide not to use it, can I have a go?

Does their support answer emails anymore? I asked for selling permission, but no answer yet.

NAMM starts in a little less than six hours. One would think any announcement of a merger would be first day news but possibly not. I'll give it until the end of NAMM and if there is still no news or word from Camel Audio it will be time to move on for me.

You will undoubtedly be disappointed to find out this is an actual song that's been around for yonks (originally recorded in 1932 according to wikipedia):

where you find this information?

I should hasten to add that mine was an instrumental version. I always found this song weirdly sinister, in a rictus-like-grin-of-forced-happiness way, before I ever heard the middle 8.

For the new Company Secretary,

Then Joan Saywood is easy enough to find through press reports, particularly in conjunction with other directorships.

I don't really know. Here's the link I've been using:

However, to put it in context, its also clear that the previous company secretaries are clearly Ben's family members.

Not necessarily. It only actually confirms that Camel went from having family members nominated for the position to a professional doing it. That could be predicated on several reasons, only one of which would be preparation for a merger/takeover type scenario. So, unfortunately it doesnt confirm anything, really, its just another rationale for speculation.

Oh darn! Well, Coincidental did write "version" so perhaps I should have guessed. Thanks for the heads-up, though. I think I would prefer Coincidental's instrumental version.

Don't know if anybody else noticed this. Yesterday morning I logged into my account @camelaudio.com . I have around 8 products there. 4 of the libraries were included in the presets package and 4 were missing. The separate preset download links for these sound libraries lead to their homepage and not to the actual file. So, to sum up, even their downloads were not working any more as they should...

True, it's not proof, or, indeed, "confirmation". It fits in with other skimpy pieces of information, but that's about it. Is it time to apply Occam's razor yet? I don't know. After a 220-page thread, maybe. After a fortnight of radio silence (which is about 10 years in Internet-time), maybe. Then again, this is the speculation thread (did I get that right?), so perhaps there's no need to stop the party... :D

NAMM announcement or not....
This thread carries so much intrigue and mystery, it will live on through the annals of time.
Mary Celeste, Roswell, Lord Lucan, Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and now Camel Audio.

I think most of us would. From today's perspective, the original - particularly the lyrics - is probably more quaint than anything.
