For the first time ever (for me ) there seems to quite a few hardware items of interest. What they are actually like we'll have to wait and see (prob summertime till they are in shops to demo) buf def one of the best years so far.

Im not in the market to buy anything, except a new controller kybd, but its a very good time for synth geeks

Exactly. I can't recall ever being excited by NAMM at all.

This year we have:
- Prophet 6 (which I think I'll actually buy)
- Roland AIRA MX1
- Korg ARP Odyssey
- Korg MS20M
- Korg Sequencer

Want. It. All.

Well yeah, for that reason I've not even read about it. It would need to be a masterpiece after the RW.

True. Perhaps it's unfair of me when I don't actually have any first hand experience with them

Now back to NAMM 8)

Those Teenage Engineering gadgets are the biggest news as far as I'm concerned. I would take one over a Rhythm Wolf, or (without even hearing them) Akai's newly announced stuff, any day.

For now Akai wins the award for the worse product demo - that gum chewing sorry-I'm-not-a-keyboard-player guy has a top spot in my nightmares. Great way to kill not so good (to be diplomatic) products even more.

Interested in the new mic pres from Arturia and Focusrite. Desperately need a real mic pre. Hear good things about the Duet--looks like these are meant to compete with that.

+1

"Timbre Wolf" has the looks, no doubt, but not the sound (sounds exactly like 4 bass sections of the Rhythm slapped together and nothing more). At 1/4 its SRP price would be a cheap kind of cool toy but at 499$... no, tnx. On the other hand, we have these little cute units from TE at a Monotron price... no brainer :) It seems the original batch is already sold out so we need to wait for the worldwide release and for those covers, but still, these look like something worth spending a bit of cash for some instant fun :) Good move, TE ;)

Two days ago I was all about the Odyssey, but my enthusiasm for it has dimmed. I still want one, but at that price I could get a lot of other interesting pieces. Perhaps a second-hand purchase for me.

Products that caught my attention were the Beatstep Pro, and the Roland JDXI. The Roland looks like a fun little instrument and could lead to much greater things! I'll also be picking-up the Teenage engineering rhythm thingy.

I've had my criticisms of Dave Smith Instruments, but boy have they delivered this time. Congrats to them - they stole the show. Short, punchy presentation of a top-class product. In sharp contrast to Korg's opening mess.

Lots of cool stuff on the horizon. How lucky we are!
