Okay, I think I finally understand why people are frantic to either buy or sell Alchemy and any Alchemy related things....

What I do not understand is the lack of pissed offedness about the way this has happened.

I think, at this point, I need to make full disclosure...

A year ago I was working on Anomaly for Alchemy and ran into a bug with their tagging system. This led me to look into said bug and possible ways around it. In doing so I found a hole in their copy protection.

I like to think I did the right thing. I opened some support tickets and told them about it.

They did not seem all that concerned....

That should have been warning flag number 1.

Fast forward a year. This time, end of year - no Camel Credits were issued...

That should have been warning flag number two.

Then they release a final version (there is in-between stuff, like the CamelAudioInstaller which checked your installed soundsets against your account (what you had purchased) - which is most likely due to what I found. But it was never finalized and was a half assed approach.

I am probably going to get into trouble for this...

But I do not care. Like you, I invested in Alchemy, and other Camel Audio things. I own Cameleon and CamelSpace as well as some of the soundsets for Alchemy. This is not a light investment. This is not how customers should be treated.

I get why the Camels are being treated here with such a light touch. I just do not understand the continuation of said light touch after some time has passed and we are still in the dark.

Any other company would have been eviscerated by now....

You actually have a good point. I really can't answer that question. Maybe because Ben was such a nice guy and he was personally involved here at KVR? Maybe society is mature and levelheaded enough to realize there is nothing we can do at this point, so just lick our wounds and deal with it? I don't really know what made Camel Audio so special as to evade the howitzer battalion. You raise a very good point with no clear answer.

Well, given the fact that most of CA users are pissed off, you can find all the answers in the first 10 pages of this thread: 90% realized things just end, 10% still believe some big company bought Camel Audio and are waiting for news (in vain). The rest of the posts (15-230+)... they have nothing to do with Camel Audio, it's all jokes about camels and off topics (acute stress reaction or smth).

Life is easier with a bit of humor. Speculating (about buy-outs) doesn't help to find out the truth, only Ben knows the truth if he's still alive...

Why would you get into trouble for posting a variation on hundreds of other posts in the same thread? For telling us you were working for them?

Your post isn't exactly Watergate levels of surprise exposure is it?
If my perception is correct my good sir, what he means is that his opinion might be in strong conflict to some here. So he might get flamed. Also, he is wondering why Camel Audio's balls are not hanging from a lamp post out in the street for their actions as opposed to let's see... hmmm... Ok. I'll pull an example randomly out of my ass. IK Multimedia for instance would have been mercilessly ripped apart had they pulled a stunt like this. There must be some kind of respect that Camel Audio has earned that got them a pass on the public slagging that other companies would have endured had they pulled this shit. There is no clear answer as to why.

^ Yeah, I know that. Still found it overly dramatic and not as shocking as claimed but deleted my post before you finished yours as, at the end of the day, the sun goes down and we all drink milk.

I agree it is strange to not see people calling for some religious hatewar against Camel Audio.

For one I'd like to know the reason for the shutdown, for the great suction of Alchemy 2 into the tittilating singularity of NeverToBe-Ware, and definitely that all the people who made Alchemy are doing well and happy.

But I'll probably never know. Probably never know why many things happen. We'll all probably never know WHY we're here (collectively).
Nor why we like certain cheeses more or less than others. Nor even why I can see you all in my mind like some kind of great Sauron Eye mwa ha ha ha!

Pretty sure it was pirates brought down the Camel. Bastardfux.

I do happen to know the answer to this. PM if interested.

This I can't help you with.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

There's time enough for evisceration. Eviscerating a camel is not an easy task, and with the delicate sensibilities of us KVRians, we are loathe to eviscerate in earnest in a mere 200+ pages.

However, do not think the Lost Camels will get away light and easy. CA went dark without any warning. We can light up the toasty roasty flaming threads at any moment. Once the hype-smoke clears from NAMM and no word is heard from the Scottish Camel herd, expect the eviscerating battle cry to blast from the desk and tablet tops and the outrage will echo (not just sure whether it will be an old skool lofi or fancy new granular style) in the padded halls of KVR for weeks, months and if Apple is indeed the eveel camel killer, forever.

While Ben and CA built up much goodwill over the years, that currency will be burned up in a fortnight. Whatever a fortnight is. We can look it up later. :D
