Just saw this in the TD newsletter. Very sad. He was probably my greatest musical inspiration.

oh, sad news...
The early Tangerine Dream was a great influence on me. In my younger years, I was hooked on Rubicon, Phaedra, Ricochet, Stratosfear, White Eagle, Logos (sublime!), Underwater Sunlight...and to this day every time I make music there is a bit of TD that finds its way into my noodlings and sounds.
I saw them live in London at the Hammersmith Apollo in the 90s...
A great artist and pioneer.
R.I.P.

Not passed away... just a change of address.
This is indeed very sad news. Very shocking to me as I write this. I went through a very long period where TD was a very big part of my life. Not so much lately as I've moved on to other influences, but the music and the way of thinking of music is something that will never go away and is buried deeply. TD was also very influential in how I approached synthesizers and how I worked with them... as I'm sure they have been for many people.
It's also one of the first times where someone who was such a big influence on me musically wound up also being aware of my music and being supportive of what I and my band at the time were trying to achieve.
RIP Edgar... the passing of an age for sure.

Aw man, this hits hard. Tangerine Dream = huge influence. This is a sucky day for us people here. If there's any kind of continued existence or consciousness away from the body, I hope he's having fun. Bet he might be experiencing what it's like to actually be a waveform, traveling as anything possible through the universe.

Yesterday I felt an sudden unexplained urge to listen to TD's Mars Polaris and Seven Letters from Tibet. And now today morning the first thing I read was that Froese had passed away. Uncanny.
Sad news indeed.

I always was a huge fan of Tangerine Dream and they were and they also were an inspiration so this is truly sad for indeed.
TD influeneced both the music i played myself and also some of my sound design (e.g. the sounds used in Tyger and Exit).
Hard to imagine that TD could continue without Edgar. Seems to be impossible to replace him.

Very sad news. TD are a huge influence for many of us. Flags should be flying at half mast at NAMM this week.
I'm glad I finally got to see them in 2012. The 2001 US tour was cancelled.
Obviously TD 1974-82 are essential. But there are occasional gems sprinkled throughout the later catalog like "Purgatorio" and "Madcap's Flaming Duty." Don't forget about Edgar's more ambient solo work especially "Epsilon in Malaysian Pale."
Edgar was working on a massive autobiography to be released this year. I wonder if he finished it.

Sad, sad, sad news. TD was the band that introduced me to electronic music (via Phaedra and Exit), and has always been a secret influence on my music (sometimes not so secret).
Rest in peace.
