So day 2 of NAMM has passed and I can't find any news of CA so I fear we can forget learning anything from the show unless it's closing day worthy news.....doubt we'll hear anything today.
So the CA ship continues to sail away almost over the horizon out of sight.....whether it turns around and comes back with another captain at the helm is yet to be seen. To me the longer the silence the less optimism I can maintain.
The only new theory I can think of is that instead of the July 7th date being six months after the announcement of cessation of sales the Jan 7 date of shutting down the shop is six months before something is going to happen in July. That's really grasping for straws but we have little else to hold on to at this point....
Camel sail away, Camel sail away, Camel sail away from meeeeeeeeee.
(Sung to Styx's "Come Sail Away With Me")

(a) It can't be easy riding camels over that terrain.Teksonik wrote:So day 2 of NAMM has passed and I can't find any news of CA ...
(b) Perhaps they'll arrive fashionably late.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

You have to wait for "One more thing" slide at the end of Apple Watch release speech.Teksonik wrote:So day 2 of NAMM has passed and I can't find any news of CA so I fear we can forget learning anything from the show unless it's closing day worthy news....

I'm starting to think we may have to wait until after July 7th before we learn anything. This could well be the formal winding down date of Camel as we know it. I don't for a minute believe Camel went bust, there's been enough time for some piece of information or some word from employees to slip out into the public domain.Teksonik wrote:The only new theory I can think of is that instead of the July 7th date being six months after the announcement of cessation of sales the Jan 7 date of shutting down the shop is six months before something is going to happen in July.

Ooh. Alchemy for Apple Watch? I'd buy that... And I thought running it on an iPad was convenient.sempondr wrote:You have to wait for "One more thing" slide at the end of Apple Watch release speech.Teksonik wrote:So day 2 of NAMM has passed and I can't find any news of CA so I fear we can forget learning anything from the show unless it's closing day worthy news....

There's no point in trying to maintain optimism. CA is dead and gone. Like I have said already in this thread no way are there going to be an Alchemy 2 or continuation of CA's products in current form or any form close to current.Teksonik wrote:To me the longer the silence the less optimism I can maintain.
Shutting down a business over night followed by complete silence most likely means that if any of their tech reappears it is not targeted to the same audience or previous loyal customers. If they think that they can be silent six months and then come back saying that nothing happened buy our products, they must be deluded. By that time they have lost all credibility.
If their product line would continue then no way would any company buying them out do such a thing. They would have continued to sell their products until they would be ready to announce the deal. And then they would announce it saying something that we have sold out, do not worry our products continue be sold under %company% and this will help us make even better products etc. If their products would continue to be sold they would go out of their way to reassure everyone that everything will continue as usual or even better.
As things stand at the moment indicates that it's the end and that's it.

I remember Casady & Greene had a great MP3 player for the Mac some years ago, among some other cool utilities, fonts, and games. Then, C&G were gone.
Strangely, their MP3 programmers went to another company that not too long after that released something called iTunes and the Ipod.
Just sayin.

I am inclined to believe they are gone. What I found, I told them about a year ago and the hole in the copy protection is still there in this last release. So, in a years time they could not fix it?

Gag. That would actually possibly displease me even more than what we got going on now.kbaccki wrote:Maybe CA is hunkered down somewhere, devising a "subscription model". Seems to be the rage.

Makes perfect sense to me. I agree.robotmonkey wrote:There's no point in trying to maintain optimism. CA is dead and gone. I disagree. Some companies love to assert absolute control by way of total silence. If they're buying Camel for the technology and not the company then they might just want the original brand to die and be forgotten.robotmonkey wrote:If their product line would continue then no way would any company buying them out do such a thing.
The timing of this seems to be more in line with new tax rules in the UK. The silence, though, says NDA to me. Camel folks always struck me as good people. It's hard to imagine them being this dickish to their customers by their own choice. Or maybe something awful has happened?
Surely there must be consensus by now...
