Are you prepared to chip in toward the tapes and the motel room - just in case they are next door?

No one knows who bought Camel Audio, or even if anyone bought Camel Audio. We have established that they were perfectly solvent, and that Alchemy 2 was nearing fruition. It seems that Ben is still in the land of the living. There have been some hints dropped that they sold out to Apple for a very tidy sum, but apart from the almost total absence of information (which may be a clue in itself - but not a very helpful one), there's nothing to corroborate the Apple buyout, though it fits the very few facts we have. For what it's worth, the rumours about Scarlet Johansson are also unproven. :D

In the meantime we're having a kind of KVR-style wake, a healthy but volatile mixture of speculation, grumpiness, self-revelation, informed discussion, storming in and storming out again, camelpix and kvetching. By all means stick around - or check back in around page 500 and ask again. No guarantees there will be any more news by then though...

Personally, it wouldn't surprise me if Ben had opted to take a very large offer from someone, even if that meant Alchemy 2 never saw the light of day or was restricted to a limited group of people (DAW- or OS-specific for instance). He's a decent chap by all accounts, and I reckon he might reach a pragmatic decision that, with the silly money that was being waved at him, he could do enough good for enough people in the world that it would outweigh the disappointment caused to Camel fans.

Fantastic summary.

Could you post a fresh synopsis, say after every 100 pages or so, and pm me a copy so that I can stop checking this thread every couple of hours? It's getting depressing up in this b%tch! ;)

I predict that the synopsis will be exactly the same in 100 pages

But remember, the fun is in the journey, because probably nobody is going to be very happy when we reach the destination.

Haha! Ya. Now we can just all wait until the Camel Audio team makes a come-back by opening up a Fish'N'Chips restaurant somewhere. "You know... 'cuz the taxes are so much simpler". :tu:
