Fairly off-the thread; Robert Jourdain uses Mancini's "The Pink Panther Theme" to illustrate the neuropsychology of the perception of music: http://www.amazon.com/Music-The-Brain-A ... 038078209X. He explores it in extreme depth.PatchAdamz wrote:The Pink Panther Theme Song (Original Version)
I like Mancini's main theme to "Lifeforce" better:

Phase IV. There are a few videos, but it's mainly the end sequence so I don't want to give away spoilers. Good score but also some great electronics by BBC Radiophonic Workshop/White Noise guys.
Actually another good Radiophonic workout is The Legend of Hell House:

As an 11 yr old kid in 1966, I went to see Thunderball and was so memorized by the opening theme song sung by Tom Jones that when I got home I begged my dad to let me clean out the garage for money to go buy the soundtrack. Boy, did that album fuel some imaginative adventures that summer.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow Of Chernobyl (only among the greatest video games ever to have been released) has a stunningly good soundtrack. If you're into dark ambient you owe it to yourself to go seek it out. Here's one of my favourite parts of it (as it's well over 2 hours of music overall). The synth that comes in at 3.35 has me in goosebumps every time.
Another fantastic moment

Likewise.
I still have to play Stalker actually, i have it installed, but never got to play it really. I will surely do so soon, as i love games with such a tense atmosphere.

Speaking of game music, just the other day I was reminded of the brilliant soundtrack to the Playstation One version of Doom back in the mid 90's. The game has dated terribly but that soundtrack still sounds creepy as hell. The composer was a guy called Aubrey Hughes.

You're in for a treat. It can seem a little ropey at first (but then you've played Thief 3 so you will be used to ropey'nesschk071 wrote:Likewise.I still have to play Stalker actually, i have it installed, but never got to play it really. Pretty awesome stuff - suits the game much better than the cheesy pc Doom soundtrack.lotus2035 wrote:Speaking of game music, just the other day I was reminded of the brilliant soundtrack to the Playstation One version of Doom back in the mid 90's. John Barry is such a genius, all his music for the Bond movies is great. I couldn't afford the albums when I was little but I placed a tape recorder next to the TV speakers and recorded the music directly from the movies.bluedad wrote:As an 11 yr old kid in 1966, I went to see Thunderball and was so memorized by the opening theme song sung by Tom Jones that when I got home I begged my dad to let me clean out the garage for money to go buy the soundtrack. Total Annihilation
Half-Life
Homeworld
Transistor
Borderlands 2
Diablo II of course, but it's probably not underrated.
