Maybe the Camel has a plan!

Maybe the camel has escaped to the woods to escape the rampant speculation about its future.
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Why is it that just because CA is a VST maker, we're just supposed to take this sudden "Screw you all" (especially if you just bought the synth the DAY before the announcement, which I am sure there has to be at least a FEW people) like it's perfectly acceptable and have no right to be angry about it?

We wouldn't accept this from our phone, cable, auto, Internet, or any other company in the "real" world. But because it's software we're just supposed to say "Oh, okay CA. Have a nice life. Wish you well."

It's total BS. Anybody defending them, I'd love to see how you react when you go to bring your 3 month old car to Honda for service (still under a 5 year powertrain warranty) and are told, "Sorry, we're out of business."

I doubt you would be this gracious and forgiving.
Welcome to the "because software" excuse. The whole industry has successfully managed to evade any regulation by consumer protection laws "because software is different". No warranties. No fitness for particular purpose. Contracts that aren't signed or agreed to in any sense of traditional legal way. Hardware becoming equally unprotected and unregulated by way of the fact that it is useless without the software that is unregulated. And this has been so successful that other industries, such as service providers and even physical product makers, have taken to these kinds of tactics and avoidance of consumer protection laws. Then when the EU enforces a consumer protection law against a USA company, we have all the mindlessly obedient and indoctrinated tech geek libertarians jump up on anti-regulation and anti-EU soapboxes.

Whoa. Sorry for being serious there. Back to your regularly scheduled silliness!! :P

I think a reasonable attitude lies about half way between 'Saint Ben' and 'bitch for life'.
Don't go getting all moderate and reasonable on us ... :hihi:
