I am getting a bit more convoluted for sure. Thanks I seem to be getting a lot of depth from my library but am due for more to pick from. I've been looking at a few different sources. We'll See. Thanks for the listen.

See your using samples...but can you tell a bit about how this is assembled/edited/and the mediums you work in?

This is crafted extremely well!
It also shows musical talent...in how it`s all arranged...feels odd to say that about performance samples.

One thing about the overall sound of the mp3/master...is that if the master sounds likethe mp3...it is too hot a mix for this type of instrumental jazz quartet.
I would see that each track doesn`t peak at more then -5db.
The same at the master gain.

Then,if you have a program that will normalize...do a -16db normalize as the final wave.

These numbers aren`t strict...but you get the idea.

The full freq`d standup bass will blend much better,and not dominate over the other sounds.

PS:if used...no need for limiting with this scheme.

Thanks annode.. I work in Sonar. I'm using the loop explorer, and will start with an instrument, usually the first eight bars of drum track. Using the loop explorer, I'll pick a style, and drop a starting loop into the first slot. Stretch to get the first odd number of bars of whatever style, and leave one for a fill. This isn't strict but you get the idea. I'll put loops unstreched or even shrunk or cut beside one another as well. Next the bass, or guitar, or whatever seems to be feeling good (working with whatever style). Again I'll put up cut loops, loops,beside one another,letting Sonar take care of the timing. Build each instrument this way as the song starts to take shape. The rest becomes apparent as you push the sound, mix, fix etc till the whole thing starts to sit well. If any of the above bugs me for more than a day, I trash the song and start over. Don't keep anything or you will brickwall on it. This is the nuts and bolts of what I've been doing. Thanks a lot for the listen.
Oh..I add Vsampler, and real instruments from time to time as well. Thanks again.

Yes you are right on the money. I've heard several ideas on the topic. One being to spread the sound over all of the available outputs of your soundcard to get a richer less hot sounding mix. I am mixing pretty hot, and have found myself cutting volumes with a reveb fader in the master out position. I will play more with the envelope offset mode in Sonar. Thanks I will use this advice. You'll see a difference in my next.

Love that break at just past a minute. The percussion picks up all subtle like as well..Nice touch. I am a big fan of creative sampling...it is an art form all its own and you have a great ear for it. That brass swell is awesome and the second swell is cool because its layered with that pad and it sounds thickola! Great use of dynamics.

2:50 is a great end break! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that bass.
