At least Spire coders were able to improve their awkward 90ies style preset browser at least a bit - that Dutch company still hasn't done that yet...

Imo, Spire tends to sound thin/noisy/overly bright. It seems that they tried to make it friendly to modern EDM production techniques, like massive layering, limiting with heavy gain reduction, overusing background white noise and emphasising upper midrange in order to make the mix sound good (which means loud) on iphones.
However Spire plays well in a mix when contrasted by fatter/darker synths.
