Did you listen throughout last month (and rest this morning) so you get the gist of what tracks you liked, etc?
Yes, that's basically what I did.

Starting to vote now, some really amazing tracks.
It is going to be hard voting.
Once I have fully voted, will go through the tracks I have not commented on yet and add some comments.
If I miss anyone just to say all your tracks are great and also very inspiring,
good luck everyone.

Pls help a newbie: how to vote?
I mean (just to say): if i find a track boring but with great sounds, should i value it more than a great composition but with less work on the sounds itself? The "focus" is on the sound engeneering or on the overall quality and taste?

There are no rules set in stone, each one has its own criteria to evaluate tracks.Parduz wrote:Pls help a newbie: how to vote?

Personally, I give 1 point to mixing, 1 to sound design, 1 to composition, 1 if I enjoy it musically (i.e., if it has a musical style that pleases me), and 1 for that extra "oomph". Let's say a track might be well composed, has great sounds and enchant me, but the mixing is sub-par, it will probably receive a 4 from me.
Tracks with "4" and "5" are almost equal for me, the difference is that the "5" tracks have that extra something that makes me want to listen to them over and over.
It's complicated, voting is really subjective.

As long as you're consistent, vote however you see fit. I personally try to take into account arrangement, mix, quality of sound design etc into my voting - even if I really don't care for the style of music. I try to ignore the style of music and just concentrate on those three things in coming up with a score. Even with sound design, it's hard because a lot of presets get used, so who knows if someone actually designed the sound from scratch, used a preset, or tweaked a preset...just be consistent if you can.Parduz wrote:Pls help a newbie: how to vote?

Hi guys - my first participation in a last few years...
Listening to tracks right now - so many great works
Can someone, please, advise me how we're actually voting?
Rules says:"All tracks are scored from 1 to 5, by dragging them over."
How exactly I do this?
Thanks and good luck to all participants !

I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, I tried to log in with my email on the vote page but it didn't recognise me so I set up a new user account on the voting page http://onesynthchallenge.org/.
Somehow I could vote for myself , so I have the feeling I'm doing something wrong, can anybody enlighten me thanks.

That's normal. It votes for yourself will not be counted; you can just put your own track at 1. Sounds like you did the right thing.Cubic-Paranoia wrote:I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, I tried to log in with my email on the vote page but it didn't recognise me so I set up a new user account on the voting page http://onesynthchallenge.org/.
