One of the first things I thought to do after this all hit the fan was shoot him a PM. His account has PMs turned off so he is incommunicado. He was such an active member here and made a positive personal contribution to all kinds of things so it is a shame that his participation here has been taken down by corporate shenanigans. Hope he is well.Tricky-Loops wrote:I hope ZenPunkHippy is still alive...Numanoid wrote:I'm just thinking, way to go Camel Audio, that is the proper way to celebrate 15 years in existence, by going completely mute
I remember contacting some Emagic developers I knew online after the Logic buyout and wishing them the best - one said it had worked out very well for him - $$$ wise. If that is the kind of situation we have here then perhaps we can hope the whole team has a niche in whatever new arrangements are going to apply.

I don't go along with that kind of thinking at all.egbert wrote:I remember contacting some Emagic developers I knew online after the Logic buyout and wishing them the best - one said it had worked out very well for him - $$$ wise. It's like if a ship goes down, the captain and crew goes to the lifeboat first, and let the passengers sink.
The longer Camel Audio continue to keep silent, the more they show how little they cared for their customers
When it comes to ZPH just goes to show that money will win over friendship any day. I actually prefer the way IK Multimedia personell go about it in the forum, they give it to you straight up, and don't try to disguise that their users are just milking cows for their business interests.

why wouldn't he be ??Tricky-Loops wrote:I hope ZenPunkHippy is still alive...Numanoid wrote:I'm just thinking, way to go Camel Audio, that is the proper way to celebrate 15 years in existence, by going completely mute
clearly, no one is allowed to talk about the situation. zph was a cherished member of kvr in his own right, but i can imagine it being impossible to successfully wear both hats while all of this is happening

The same thing could happen with IK Multimedia, too, and maybe they would be too embarrassed to tell the KVR folks what really happened (because it's too personal) and they would decide to remain silent. And then Peter would probably disappear here, too, like ZenPunkHippy because he weren't allowed to say anything about the reasons, anyway...Numanoid wrote:When it comes to ZPH just goes to show that money will win over friendship any day. Camel Audio offered a great support here for many years, nobody thought that this were possible...

You, or the rest of us, *are not Camel Audio customers* because, as has been established, *there is no Camel Audio* anymore.Numanoid wrote:The longer Camel Audio continue to keep silent, the more they show how little they cared for their customers
A company can't care for it's customers it the company no longer exists. Of course, the persons formerly running or employed by that company can still care (and you're a fool if you think any of the ex-Camels just doesn't give a f... for their *former* customers) but things happen, people move on, and so will the former customers in time (remember, no one has taken anything from you, you still have, and can use, the products you paid for, for years ahead.)

do you feel your friendship with him trumps his friendship and/or legal responsibilities to ben ?? if you are a friend of his, it was likely for good reason. perhaps, remember what it was about him that made you regard him as a friend, realise that for the current time his hands are tied, and then cut him some slackNumanoid wrote:When it comes to ZPH just goes to show that money will win over friendship any day

How do you know that, when Camel Audio has gone silent?el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:realise that for the current time his hands are tied, and then cut him some slack
How do you know his hands are tied, that's just speculation.

Some great corporate reasoning there, you should write press releases for Enronbeely wrote:A company can't care for it's customers it the company no longer exists.

Camel had built up a lot of "goodwill", something that is an almost bankable intangible.
Seems most of that is gone.
I still love Alchemy, and will use it until it doesn't work any more.. and then move on.
Wherever the Camels end up, though, I'm going to have to consider whether this kind of trick will get pulled again. Once burned, twice shy.
To make lemonade out of lemons, a lot of third-party banks have gone on sale so I'm cleaning up right how.

And that makes me think these guys are like regular users, but this kind of situation makes me realize that it's always a client relationship you have with them.

I can understand a little cynicism. The whole friendly developer thing can be taken as a performance which is dropped when convenient. Same goes for everything - gender, politics, humanity - by this sort of account.Numanoid wrote:I don't go along with that kind of thinking at all.egbert wrote:I remember contacting some Emagic developers I knew online after the Logic buyout and wishing them the best - one said it had worked out very well for him - $$$ wise. If you know his story, you know how he stumbled into the support gig with Camel from the position of being an enthusiastic and cluey user who voluntarily helped others here get Alchemy going (ie for nothing) before being offered a gig helping with support.Numanoid wrote:When it comes to ZPH just goes to show that money will win over friendship any day.
I have no doubt that whatever decision was made was made well above his pay grade - as the yanks say. I can't see the logic of holding him personally responsible for what has occurred. I don't think it is a stretch to offer our sympathy with any conflict of loyalty he might be caught up in here - he might be legally bound as an employee to keep the confidences of Camel-whatever-the-hell-it-is-now.
We are all flesh and blood after all (except the bots) ...

I doubt that someone who builds up a company with many customers for 15 years - which is a lot of hard work -, suddenly uses a cheap trick to pull out of business...SyntheticAurality wrote:Wherever the Camels end up, though, I'm going to have to consider whether this kind of trick will get pulled again. Even Reason from TeamDNR who used a real trick - announcing his faked death - didn't do it to grab the money and buy a mansion on Hawai'i but because of all his (drug and alcohol) addictions...

Agreed. Can you imagine the shit he would have had to face when the news went down?el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:zph was a cherished member of kvr in his own right, but i can imagine it being impossible to successfully wear both hats while all of this is happening
It's a shame because he was (is!
