It's already the third wave of Rick Astley jokes with the same video and comments, so we are in the third loop of this thread now.

Apple bought them to integrate into GarageBand as Alchemy 2 - and who knows? It could be sold by them as a separate ios synth - if you haven't already, please take a look at what's going on with the ipad, with Alchemy being one of the Crown Jewels on the iOS platform - FLstudio, Cubasis, Korg and their Gadget with audio track integration next, 48-track Auria with plugin support, etc.

Apple may be getting ready to do more with GarageBand - simple as that. They're super rich, so the expansion with Alchemy would make sense.

Quickly: when lawyers get involved: everyone has to shut the hell up - no choice.

the ipad market has bombed, and i think logic is the most 'logical' direction for them to shove alchemy (or its coders)
:dog: It hasn't bombed. It has been saturated. The doom and whoa commentary in the media is really annoying.
apple recently released figures which showed sales of ipads had severly gone down and they were no longer the top selling apple products.

In a big way too.

Edit: you did say severely :dog:
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

Yes, that's what the slow sales show, market saturation.

The cycle of iPads is longer than phone and even computers, as they do what they do so well, it's probably more like 5 years+ before you feel your existing iPad is too slow to handle "current" software and need to think about getting a new one.

Even five years down the line, I will still be able to use my iPad Mini to read the net, read books, play music and video, play games, and all the other stuff - it won't stop being useful.

My immediate family is not tech savvy, and as I look around, between us we have five iPads.

The market has saturated, but the business is still extremely successful, but the low hanging fruit has been reached, so sales have slowed. It doesn't mean no-one wants iPads, or that there is no business there.

Once again, despite what the idiots have you believe, Apple isn't "doomed" or one sales-slump away from oblivion...
