Where You get inspirations(melody)?

Okay, so I mean particular about melodic genres.

I produce about 4 years(progressive house), and I know that melody creating ... in a little bit random way.

Please(Give link or Name) artist who using a lot of melodies in classical music or every other genre/style but must have an interesting melodies

General I listen to EDM but maybe in another Genres I find the ... NEW IDEAS

You know, I'm kinda disappointed that very long time spend on writing melos, never play on any instrument and know only basic music theory.
When I sit down to my midi keyboard, I can tap 1 hour + draw notes in DAW with Unsatisfactory results ;/

And after that when Im frustrated, open (like You) folder with MIDI packs, and I recreate some midi files in shorter time I have much better melody than when I creating my own (in 100%) - so this idea, I know

Of course I never want to steel melody from another artist track, I mean about ... General sketch or changing orginal melody past all recognition

And Big names producers often tell in interviews that their "Hits" inspired from :
-classical music
-films
-another hits (often in the same genre )

That's why I'm asking about ways: D

Listen to speech patterns, people talking, birdsong, even the chatter and noise of everyday life. There are implied melodies and rhythms everywhere, no?

One guy recommends taking any old bit of text, setting it to music asif it were lyrics, and then ditching the text. Seems like a good strategy to try if you're stuck.

Remember there should be a synergy between the melody, it's context, and the sound(s) used. Sometimes, when the other two line up perfectly, the actual notes used can be insanely simple. Let the music speak through you... *mystical ambience plays*

never play on any instrument

What about your actual life in music gave you the idea you could sit down in front of a computer with a sequencer's piano roll and just start penciling in melodies?
You never played one or probably sang one, you're saying. Someone never spoke, but get that word processor, boy, they're ready to write.

jancivil: I Just see that people which plays on piano for example, they can create faster and more effective, but in my case I prefer draw in piano roll + adding some notes from MIDI in the same time

Learn to play an instrument, then the melodies in your head (if you have any) will become reality. If you have no ideas then you're screwed. There is no instant / easy fix.

About me, the ways i create melodies are a lot. Sometime i have it right in my head, sometime i just go playing and playing (and recording) a sort of "pre-alpha" theme. I made mistakes, i change some tempo, sometime i "hear" a note that was "hidden" but popped-up 'cause a casual syncro with the bass-line.... this process, repeated like a mantra, usually ends to "click" in me and i finally have my melody.

I wish i had found a good "wave to midi" converter, so i could sometime just whistle what i have in my head and automagically have it ready on my sequencer.
