Filing documents at Companies House has nothing to do with taxes. Tax returns are filed with HM Revenue & Customs.SODDI wrote:Taxes. Camel Audio Limited filed its last accounts to 31/03/14 on 26/11/14. It did occur to me that as they are continuing to provide support until July, they might want to keep their filing up to date. However, the Statement of Capital filed relates to 04/07/03 (the date of the company's incorporation) and the fact that an amended Annual Return was filed leads me to think that somebody has been making sure the company's statutory records are in good order. Why?
The information I have given regarding filing at Companies House is in the public domain so I'm not giving away any confidential information. Anything else is speculation...

The fact that submitted a statement of capital pretty much on the date they went dark suggest to me that they are indeed getting the final accounts in order before ceasing trading. 1. Members' voluntary liquidation (a solvent liquidation) - where any remaining assets are distributed to shareholders and the company is struck off once the liquidator files his final return.
2. Voluntary striking off - whereby the company requests the registrar of Companies to strike off the company.
3. Striking off for non-filing of returns.
None of these procedures would require making sure your filing at Companies House was accurate since incorporation.
How long a lecture on UK company law do you want?
Whether any of this means that somebody is looking to buy the company's shares, or just the company's business, or neither is another matter. We can only wait and see.
