After a severe hard disc crash 2 weeks ago finally got everything running again. Today I spent making music again :D

I still want to add some voice bits from the movie (probably tonight and tomorrow) but the instrumental part I think is done (maybe a little tweak here and there) :help:

The link is here and all are welcome to comment and let me know what you think.

New Mix (added some eq and one sample) Never realized how dificult it would be to try and add voice samples to music. I had a hard time finding the right place for the 4 samples i chose. I ended up using only one. it fits real nice in the mix.

Final version is up, I am stopping here cause I can't think of anything that can make this a better tune. Vurt's imput mucho appreciated.
Thanks John

Isn't this what Ash says in Army Of Darkness and what has it got to do with The Day The Earth Stood Still?? Sorry, just wondering. :D :D

Post

its from the day the earth stood still, its a command to the robot
ash uses it as a sort of tribute to films gone before i guess
its one of those things script writers do

you never seen it ant?i suggest you do
one of the best scifi film scores EVER!!!
:ud:

Yeah it is. And its taken directly from Day the Earth Stood Still. Its the line Klaatu (the guy) tells the girl to say to Gort (the robot) if something happens to him...
An SF in-joke by Sam Raimi in Army of Darkness, basically.

Hey, that's even more interesting than the fact that Mike Oldfield is using FL Studio and the shocking news that Xander was there when you were conceived :o :o

Interesting, that film was influential in many ways obviously. :) :)

Very nice! What instruments did you use for this? The quality is exceptionally clear.

Ah yes my tune, well thanks, I used about 5-6 tracks of my Alesis Ion (the saucer landing in the beginning and all of the last part) Absynth for some pads from Elipsys, one track of FM7, and 3 of my precious M42, lots of layering and volume envelopes. Done in Cubase SL. No eq at the moment and a sprinking of Sir using a Spectral Relativity impulse.

All the patches had some sort of space related name which helped create the atmosphere in my room.

Yes John the dvd of The Day the Earth Stood Still is out. I will be watching it tonight :D
It is my favorite scifi film.

I thought of adding some of the Bernard Herman sountrack (I may still do this but I will try to play it myself) but feel the voice samples may be more effective. 8)

Thanks John, I fell the same but I wanted to hint at his soundtrack a little. Maybe just add some Theramin (you want a go at it?). I know exactly which voice samples I am going to use too, I just have to sit down and record them tonight onto cassett and transfer them to the pc.

I think that this film is a good one for kids, he should enjoy it alot. :)
