I will check this out. If it is really for learning and if the feedback is really only helpful and constructive I maybe give it a chance although 4 weeks are actually not much time for creating a song. At least not for me. But I have seen that the track doesn`t need to be epic and 10 minutes long. I guess 3 Minutes I could make in 4 weeks *lol*.

I actually could need feedback and help, because I`m starting this electric music journey right now as already said. Once when I played Bass in different Bands we had a sound engineer for recording, mixing and mastering. My part was to play my instrument and I don`t needed to know anything about sound engineering. But now that I try home recording I simply have to know all and also have to do all by myself. That`s a hard task. I`m most of all interested into feedback to all this technical aspects because if people like a certain song or not is anyway just a question of taste. But concerning mixing, mastering, sound........one can get very objective feedback which is necessary and helpful.

Another problem is: I have got my PC speakers, my Laptop speakers and my DJ Headphones (at least) but does this say anything about of the sound of my tracks? NO. It sounds so different depending on what speakers I use that I have absolutely no idea how my songs sound like. Community Feedback concerning this aspect would be great. If the most say that the sound is okay then I guess it is really okay.

But for the Eclipsis Challenge it is too late already. I will have to work too many hours this month and as already said: I`m a very slow song producer, but I will keep an eye on the OSC. Promised
Don't sweat it. We all were beginners at one time or another. I'm sure you'll get the hang of all this eventually. And of course if you ever have any questions about anything you can always come here and ask. I have found this community to be quite helpful when push comes to shove.

Enjoy the journey.

@wagtunes: Thanks for encouraging me, I start to feel secure

It is just...I had been in communities before....you wouldn`t believe me what I have experianced there. I could write a book about. Really. But maybe musicians are different. Cool, okay then I will just.....

I am... I think, hehehe.
I'm Marcelo: nice to meet you! :tu:

LOL! Yep, women here are as rare as a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. :)

As for OSC, it's pretty much like the guys already said: it's a great environment to meet new people, learn and teach in the process. If you manage to forget about the competition, you can really have a wonderful experience.

Of course, like in the real world, there are nice and not-so-nice people, but the community as a whole is really, really cool. And you said that there's not enough time to make an entry for OSC Eclipsis: believe me, there are plenty of time. It's a wonderful feeling to overcome this short amount of time and resources and create a nice track with a single synth, specially such a special beast like Eclipsis.

At least some rumours say. But I know from a very secure source (the Camel Audio Thread  ) that the member Astralv is also female. This is not speculation, because she said by herself at the Camel Audio Thread. Just for the records.

Ts..........

Okay. I really haven`t got much off time this month and so can`t promise anything I might can`t keep. I even don`t know if I may use the equipement I already own. I guess I may not. As I remember well my friend Richard (Tatanka) told me even the DAW must be freeware *aaaaaaaaaaaargh*. I just can try.

First I have to read the rules and try to find out what exactly I will have to do. If I haven`t got problems (with installing and trying new software) and if my workflow is good then I can try to post a very, very little song. But I definitely can`t promise. It would be way too much pressure for me to promise something and when I get pressure, the fun is gone, I can`t relax and if I can`t relax, I can`t make music. Being relaxed and making music is one and the same thing for me. It belongs together for me.

So: Let`s wait and see 8)

If not this time then another time. Although I must confess that Eclipsis of course is a seduction. I even could use my own soundbank and if everything goes wrong, my last resort would be to take the Arp_DanceZone by TrojakEW on the first track, playing a little melody on the second track and my song would be finished  Okay that was a joke, but not impossible, lol.

Cheers
Yvonne

Update: Okay I have read the OSC rules and I feel a great relief. Seems that I may use my Cubase (never supposed that this fact could make me so happy )
I may not use modulation effects, but this is no problem. But what to hell is rotary??? Is panning meant? I mean that would be not cool. How shall someone make a well mixdown without panning? Automation is allowed it seems, right? Oh my.... I have to clear up a couple of things before I can start. This experiance will be very intresting :D

I`m glad that I may use a PC and don`t need to send a tape to KVR

It's basically the 'Leslie' effect, known from a lot of Hammond Organ sounds.

Panning, on it's own, has nothing to do with 'rotary fx'. So obviously panning is allowed (and indeed needed for a good mix unless you go for 'mono' :D).

You are even allowed to automate panning to get stereo movement, as that does not actually change the original sound of the synth, it only moves it ;)

Yvonne, best of luck in OSC ;) I'm sure you'll fave fun - it is a nice experience and you'll learn a lot of neat tricks along the way ;) OSC is prolly the only competition with participants sharing their sound sculpting "secrets" before the round even ends, heh ;) So it's cool ;)

As for effects, don't sweat :) The worst thing that could happen would be to be asked to replace a certain effect just in case you've used one that is not allowed - like a chorus, for ex. Your track won't get disqualified without warning. And don't hesitate to ask any question you may have regarding the synth or how to create a certain sound - there's always someone willing to help ;) Good luck ;)

That`s the best news :D

Okay, I guess I can work well with this limitations.

@Idfpower: Thanks for encouraging me. I will just give it a try. I will switch now to the contest thread for the case that I still have got questions. For the moment I guess I have understood all and so I can start. Thank you all for your help and the encouraging :)

Let`s make party
