Have you already chosen which DAW you want to use?trooby#Newbie wrote:Hi guys, I'm from Netherland and I'M nineteen years old. I want to start with producing EDM-songs. Now I wanted to ask you if you have good tips or links to get high quality EDM-Samples for free.
And have you already chosen which sample player you will use?
There are DAWs which contain their own huge sample players (real instruments by the way), even in the free edition of these DAWS.
And also, there are several sample file formats (wav, sfz, sf2, etc.) and each each sample player read one or several of the sample file formats but rarely all the formats.
Hence these two questions:
1. Have you already chosen which DAW you want to use?
2. And have you already chosen which sample player you will use?
And if not, maybe you'll need advices to choose these tools.

I'll give you a tip that you eventually will find a bit boring.
Loops and samples often gives an imediate result. Hit the trigger and you'll , most of the tiem. have something that sounds great.
However that easily fools you into the illusion of what you are doing is good.
Have a listen to many many kids in yoru age doing just that. Sure the kik drum and basslien sounds great. But the overall imkpression and composion does most of the time not.
Especially not compared to those artist they want to imitate.
If you want an imediate result you better go into DJ:ing. It's pretty much the same thing. However you'll more ikely have a better result.
Many many dance music artist started out as DJ:s rather then loops ad sample editors. Like Dennis Pop and Max Martin.
You an use samples and loops as a DJ too. Most good DJ:s do. The DJ approach to EDM is way better, especially for a starter - In my opinion.
Another alternative that will take muc longer time before you get any really good result, and therefor eneeds a srong motivation and patience, is of course to learn about music making form scratch. Music theory, audio recording and technology etcetera.
All the great bands and artist in the past didn't have any of those tools you've today. Still they did fantastic music.
But if you just want to spend some time to play around and make a trck to play to the girls amusment on a party. Well, then you already have quite a few tips here in the thread.
Good luck with the music!
