the beginning reminded me of the minimalism in the soundtrack to waking life and I REALLY was digging it--the orchestration was great, but the beat seemed too 'pop' for me, i would have liked to hear you go on with a minimalist approach to percussion (not just a minimalist approach to what loop you use). have you ever recorded bubble wrap? imagine that beat but in samples of bubble wrap!! or filtered percussion? i think it is great right now, but that it could be even greater is all.
oh this crash bugs me, the one that cuts into this clarinet sounding section. yeah, how about a white noise whoosh or something glitchy?
of your course i'm just biased to my own tastes.

It was a lonley existance living in the country. Elenor had passed away many years ago, but failing market prices ensured Hugo would not be selling his farm & truthfully, he did not know how many season he had left anyways. He struggled some mornings finding a reason to even get out of bed.
But 'Signora changed all that. Each day for the last month since she arrived was like a new lease on life. She litteraly glowed in the sun, & he had never realized how much love he was capable of feeling for a female; it scared him sometimes, it was just so powrfull. He rose a whole hour ealier now to get that extra bit of work in to make a better impression on his lady, to show her the man he was. 'Signora would look at him askance and pretend she wasn't watching, but he knew toiling in the fields that her eyes were on him, waiting till sundown to consumate their joyful union.
His newfound love was so exasperating he often found himself neglecting his live stock, but he could hardly pay them heed when she was near, she had an incredible power over him.
Late one night, Hugo was disturbed by a ruckus in the barn; his instinct old him this was trouble. Grabbing his shotgun by the bed, he stormed out into the moonlit yard. A dark shadow running towards the fields confirmed his worst fears. What was more, he could clearly see the threashing body hefted over the intruder's shoulder wrapped in a potato sack, rendering his gun useless.
No bastard was gonna steal his 'Signora..
He chased in fury, blindly stumbling across the rocky path, heedless of the cuts the sharp rocks made on his feet, the kidnapper's silhouette outlined in silver. He drew near to the antagonist and threw himself upon him, knowing he could cause injury to his beloved, but knowing he may never see her again if he failed to act now. All three crumpled to the ground in a heap of flailing limbs, and after a brief struggle, Hugo pummeled the criminal into submission, & pulled his face into the moonlight while he held a large rock at the ready.
Good lord, he thought. It was his brother Remus! Remus lived 7 miles away from Hugo's farm, in a little cottage. The relationship between the two had soured years earlier when Elenor had chosen Hugo in a rivalry that had split thier family down the middle.
And so, Remus was here to take his revenge and steal 'Signora away from him..NEVER!! He could never have loved Elenor in the way he loved 'Signora, he wished that Elenor had never come to chose him; she was a vacant memory that drifted more each day.
"Why?! Why try & steal my 'Signora from me, Remus? Answer me before I bring this rock down into your skull!", he screamed. 'Signora struggled to her feet whimpering in confusion, the sound of her stress made Hugo nearly insane with rage. "Answer me you fooking rapist baastard!!"
His brother grinned up through blood streaked teeth cracked in the struggle and laughed. "You owed me! You stole my only love! But I'll have you know, I've had your precious 'Signora now a dozen times! You've not heard her cries of ecstasy? She doesn't love you!"
Hugo reeled back in horror. Was it true? He spun to face 'Signora. "Is it true, you vixen? Have you fecked this miserable bastard, you frumpy whore?"
'Signora looked at him dumbly. She wasn't about to betray the obvious. Hugo whirled back on remus, who laughed hysterically even as the rock came down & smashed his head like a melon.
"You'll never have her, Remus! She's MINE! She's MY FOOKIN EWE!!!"
The rock came down again and again; the blood in the moonlight was like vitriolic oil, staining the earth forever with his shame.
'Signora bleated weakly and wondered where some oats were...

A beautiful prelude on a sunday morning, where I agree the strings need a bit more work to make em sound a bit more natural. But I must say the piano especially sounds quite delicate and 'real'.

Steve, you could say I am "reasonably satisfied" with GPO. It's much better than previous banks I have tried (Reason's orkester bank and Edirol's Orchestral vsti), but of course not as good as the best. So, I suppose my answer would be that it is worth the money I paid for it...no more, no less. If you're serious about your music, and rely heavily on orchestral instruments, GPO will not be your last purchase in this area. But it is a good starting point, and I am glad that I have it.
