BTW, the IMO coolest sounds that Williams ever put on a machine were on Sorcerer. If you are not familiar with sounds from old Arcade machines, (or you just enjoy listening to them), heres a 10 minute WAV recording of the sounds of that machine. As you can hear, tons of cool synth sounds that you dont usually hear from 'conventional' synths, (it starts with the speech, then continues with the sounds/noises), and that set is still not complete because i accidentally limited the recording time to 10 minutes.

My favorite: Between 4:01 and 5:00. The sheer brutality and aggressivity of the sound itself, the changes in pitch, width and modulation, it fascinates me to no end. Music to my ears. :phones:

Note: Since i triggered through the sounds incrementally, there are some periods of silence because some registers are empty. (And i couldnt be arsed to cut the WAV.) So dont worry, its just a couple of seconds and it will continue.

if it's largely a matter of turning complete information into a .dll, i've been known to release work that meets the licensing conditions.

i'm assuming information is complete enough to produce an oscillation.. doing chip sounds with nonspecific oscillators isn't an approach for me :)
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

ok...so im necro'ing this thread because im really very interested in this.

have there been any new developments in this area the past couple of years?

im specifically looking for something that can come close to the sounds heard on the space shuttle, centaur, and fire power pins.

ive tried event generator...which is good, but not quite there, and "chip tune" vsts are not at all the same.

i have virtual pinball, and visual pinball...so i could probably access these sounds...but thats not what im looking to do. im looking to make new sounds that are like these.

ive added videos from the pinball arcade emulator game as the sounds are the exact sounds from the real tables...only you can hear them better than a video of someone playing the actual table in their basement.

Less than two years, that's not really necro :D

Something all these sounds have in common is it sounds like the phase on the oscillator isn't stable. They all have that funky--but not quite unpleasant--quality you get from phase shifting. It's a quality somewhere between sounding rubbery and like nails on a chalkboard. Could be wrong, but that's what it sounds like to me.

This is my Williams Robotron sound board. Its on the list for chipsounds in the future. (and has been for a while)

Stopped giving ETA's. Always in movement is the future.

I made 4 or 5 presets that are similar to Defender sounds in CrX4 last week. It's fun to try and replicate them. I just watched some YouTube videos of someone playing it to hear the sounds for examples. :)

Here are some sounds I made in CrX4, not exactly the same... but I tried :)

Reviving an old thread.

I found this a while back: Defender sound studio
It says connection not secure or so. Not sure it matters but I though I should mention it.

Yeah I save a copy of it for offline use. Been thinking about turning this in a M4L device. It really is fascinating that it is some form of wavetable synthesis.

I remember back then in the arcades, you could hear the Defender machine above everything else. It literally is a full on board just for the sound. Powerful stuff!
