One thing I have been using a lot lately is the hybridize option in flstudio... way more useful for patch making than nothing.

It mixes knobs like take 50% of one patch and 50% from another. I have managed to get really good results just mixing two presets and tweaking.
I would barely call this 'Sound Design' ....

Loom's factory bank is good but could really do with more plucks and stab type sounds. I'd have though u-he's patch library would have more for Bazille too.

Freeware-wise, Eclipsis could easily do with some more sounds, Kairatune probably could too.
Downloading Eclipsis now. Gonna make a few patches for this. I got a few days to wait before starting my next 3rd party project and gotta keep busy in the meantime.

Omnisphere 2.
10,000 samples just won't do....
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

Yes you've got a reason to say that of course, that is not sound design at all. But is a fast way to merge patches already created. Like when you use some random function to generate a patch, Sometimes you get something that you can use and sometimes not.

Im not a professional sound designer, I just comment that sometimes I use that for already created patches and I see it as really useful tool and efficient way of generating an hybrid between patches. Observe just one thing, this option is not just for one VST, but in general its valid for mixing patches in whatever VST you have in a more controlled manner. If it does support FST format, then I see it logic when you have patches created. just for fast prototyping.

I have some patches made for sytrus that took me more than 6 months , and its a lot of work (harmonics, spectra, and analyzing samples). Im just a humble newbie... learning slow but surely. I respect you for your knowledge in FM and sound design in general (your FM8 patches work is amazing)

I dont want to be read here as saying sound design is just pressing buttons and that is what you get... NO. Sound design is very complex of course. I apologize for my words if I have been taken as the opposite. Just commenting, thanks.

D16 Lush 101 - the Factory Presets are excellent I want more of them.

Also monark, Lin plug morphox, timewarp 2600 and xils lab synthix I would like more presets for electro, edm and techno / minmal.

From the back of my head, Brainstormer and Hydi don't have any patches, other than the default ini one.

Meddle could also use some legit sounding ones.

How u define exactly pro presets?
I've done lot new presets for Electra 2 its very easy to program and u can go really complex with it !

This guy made some factory presets for Lush-101. On his website, there is more for many of the synths mentioned in this thread, including for Dune 2. And he is a very nice guy to deal with.

Forgot to comment.

TAL synths, all of them. They need more patches.

Sonigen modular, an impresssive synth with very few patches (really good included ones).

Thanks for your kind words. Well, there are for sure many ways to approach sound design. i'm certainly an old fashioned designer. For me a patch is in my head, then, finally, after a certain amount of work, under my hands. There's very few room left for random in my work. Ymmv.

I've been too lazy lately so a new synth with less presets would be quite nice.

Making patches for others is strange. People make patches and hope someone will like them. Would it not make more sense for people to describe what kind of patches they need for which synth? 8)

Post

Damn man. I haven't used presets for a while but a ton of great synths are lacking in that way. Dune 2 (amazing synth). Codex. Largo. Lush-101. Harmor (Harmor is so f**king great, it's a shame it hasn't been accepted by that community). Spectral (love it). Diversion.

There's more I'm sure.
