(edit) Yes, ive seen the other threads going on, but id like very much a pro dude say "you need this" -and thats all  Monny is not so important, but I think all of theese boxes are interesting, so I want to by one of them..
By reding the other posts, it seem Quatrafire is it. I have good test results on a Firewire 410 too.

Mackies Spike/XD2, $399 at audiomidi
M-Audio Firewire 410, $399 at audiomidi
System 4, $439 at audiomidi
Digidesign Mbox, $449 at audiomidi
Lexicon Omega, $349 at audiomidi
Event Electronics EZBus, $599 at audiomidi
EgoSys QUATA-fire, $399 at audiomidi
ESI QuataFire 610, $499

The choices, the choices....

Im starting in a band now, and it might be nice to have a built in mixer in the interface... I dont know, those are expensive, but the EZBus aint bad, if it can record at least 4 channels at the same time...also it comes in handy that some of the interfaces has midi and/or firewire, but if its shit, id be happy to not by it! Any kind of:help:or coments are kindly recived!

Mac:Powerbook, Host:Tracktion

If only 2 channels of I/O is suitable, I am using an Echo IndigoIO and it's rock solid, fast (1.5ms latency on a 2Ghz P4) and super quiet and clean.

Plus it is Mac/PC cross platform.
