No? Then what did I see there?Kriminal wrote:wagtunes wrote:

Not quite....
Then what's this?

Then how are they allowed to sell them as their own products? Yes, I see GForce is also selling an Oddity and Minimonsta. Had no idea they were the same synths.Kriminal wrote:Gmedia/Gforce made the synths, i think they just did the modulation part.
Again, how is this even possible? Do they have some kind of agreement between the two companies? Do they split the revenue on each sale?
This is very odd. Never seen anything like this.

Click on the 'buy' link for Melohman or Oddity. Does that let you buy from Ohmforce or from GMedia?wagtunes wrote:Then how are they allowed to sell them as their own products?Kriminal wrote:Gmedia/Gforce made the synths, i think they just did the modulation part.
Set Theory claim:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate.
Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

Minimonsta or Oddity - GForce
Well, I can see how this can be confusing as hell for some people.

Okay, so then they technically are part designers. I was not wrong in my initial statement.Kriminal wrote:It clearly says on the website... 'in collaboration with'

wagtunes wrote:Okay, I admit. I'm a little bumfuzzled. But first some background.
Programming synths for over 36 years. Ran into Ohmforce a couple years back and quite honestly, disregarded all their stuff upon seeing those stupid GUIs. So I never bothered to even test out any of their synths or plugins.
They all have "classic" GUIs too ...
wagtunes wrote:Today, at another forum, I ran into a thread where members were discussing old plugins that they still use. One member brought up the Ohmforce Echoboy, which I also ran into and dismissed for the same reason.
No such plugin. You're confusing them with Sound Toys.
wagtunes wrote:Well, for whatever reason, I went back to their website and saw that two of the synths they make are Minimonsta and Oddity, two synths that I've heard talked about a lot here and with quite some praise.
And that's when Symptom caught my eye again.
Minimonsta and Oddity are collabs with GForce.
wagtunes wrote:The synth is obviously incredibly flexible. There isn't anything that I can imagine it not being able to do, especially with the morphing feature.
So here's the $64,000 question.
Why isn't this a more than suitable replacement for Alchemy? I mean take a look at that nightmare of a thread. You'd think some of these people lost a loved one. I just don't see the synth as being irreplaceable. I think Symptom, just upon initial inspection, is a perfect replacement.
So what am I missing, all you Ohmforce and Alchemy owners? What is it that Alchemy can do that Symptom can't even being to reach?
I'm willing to listen.
In the meantime, I'm seriously considering getting this thing.
I picked it up last year. I think it sounds awesome, but not owning Alchemy, I can't compare them.

There are tons and tons of things that alchemy does that symptohm cannot do. The spectral and additive resynthesis along with actual morphing of sounds alone creates the opportunity for an infinite palette of sounds that you won't be coming close to with symptohm's granular engine and that is before you get to alchemy's completely insane modulation, effects, and filters. They are just very different synths. Aside from being based on being able to do incredibly wacky things to samples they really don't have much in common.

So would you say something like Harmor comes closer to what Alchemy can do? Just picked that up and looks pretty deep.Ah_Dziz wrote:There are tons and tons of things that alchemy does that symptohm cannot do.
