you can't have monitor on and have playback happening at the same time.
you should set monitor to 'auto' and when you press the reocrd button, you'll record notes, and when you turn the record button off, you'll hear the notes.
You can tell what mode you're in by looking at the color of the meter levels. If your levels are red, this means you're in recording mode, if your levels are green this means you are in playback mode.

Yeah, it kept me up late last night. I'm using it on Win2k.

That worked! Although I don't remember changing that setting? I'll have to say, for a beta...everything sure works pretty smoothly! OSX version, though... Midi clips are very fluid in the editing, and recording goes really well so far! This could be the one! To do it all...

Have I missed a MIDI Panic (All Notes Off & Reset Controllers) Button/Function, or is there none?
Couldn't find it in neither in the application nor the manual...

And another thing... Can you preview notes in the midi clip editor?? Seems like I was hearing the notes I selected at first, but now it won't sound the notes when selecting them?? Hmmm....

Hi
I think I am going down to digital village for this one tomorrow.
I can't hold out for V4 @£500 - when I can get it now for £170!

Does anyone know if moving one clip (we'll say: "clip B") into another clip ("clip A") in the arrangement view, releasing the button, and then moving "clip B" again is suppose to delete part of "clip A"?
I don't have Ableton Live 3 installed at the moment and haven't used it for a while, so I can't remember if that's normal or not...

no_barcode, I just tried that on this end, it appears that if you drag clip B onto clip A, then clip A's midi events get merged into clip B. and they then become one clip. bug or feature? you decide
DHR53, you can preview notes by alt-clicking on the piano roll part of the midi editor. they didn't want the notes to sound when you added them, in case you were adding them.... live

You can in fact preview the notes in the piano roll on the side of the midi clip window (option click), but you can't make the individual notes sound...(the official word from Ableton) Bummer! I really rely on that when adjusting stuff in clips... Reason won't either! Arghh! hope they change their mind on that one?? Of course it's in all other major sequencers???

I posted it. I hope it's a bug. It would make a not-so-useful feature as far as I'm concerned.EricRichmond wrote:no_barcode, that sound bug-esque, please post it at the forum, or if you want I'll replicate it and post it.
