And I am starting to question some people's intelligence....

So, let me see if I get this right. It would be far, far better to just have the instruments available for free than to have them available for free and also have new content (sounds, presets, envelopes, etc...) made available both on a free and modestly priced level?

I see....

Board etiquette precludes my responding to the first line.
Contempt precludes my responding to the rest.
Read my post again: I was trying to help.
But maybe it takes a modicum of intelligence to appreciate that.
None of the really dumb people I knew when I was young are young any more.

And yet, when I was posting soundsets that were free, you were not suggesting that this be posted in Soundware or questioning my motives.....

i am beginning to think the algomusic plugins must be jinxed

what is with these plugins that board members feel they must question every move anyone makes towards making these available and supported.

really, why are these different than other softwares?

maybe i'm just a doddering greybeard but i don't see why any algomusic thread now has to devolve into fingering and questioning motives and all that B.S.

there is nothing wrong or underhanded going on here.

what IS happening is that now there is a site to obtain these plugins for free with the dev's blessing and NEW content being offered for a reasonable price just as it happens with many other plugins at KVR.

so...this is a plea for those who have a bitch with all this to back off and let this thread continue as i am sure Dr. Ambient and Tim Conrardy would like to see it with new sounds (free or not) and discussions and maybe these old plugins could flourish for a while longer

They are not cursed.

I have stepped back in the last day or so and spent some time designing skins for Wusik. Some of my earliest interactions with Tim were making Wusik skins for him. So, in my own way, I am still honouring his memory...

What has happened with these instruments and everything about them is this:

A small group of people decided to make them free before they had the developers blessing. A website was made, files were exchanged (NOT from the dev) and a precedent has been set.

What is done, is done.

I will still work on things for the M42 and take my time and get to know the other Algo instruments. There will be things released in the future, both free and not. But I am no longer in the great rush I was.

I still offer to host, for free, anything anyone wants to contribute to these instruments.

And you get stick for making fresh sound banks available to go with the legitimately free to distribute free software

Just shows the double standards of some people. I wouldn't worry about them at all. Unlike others, you haven't done anything wrong. :tu:

And it continues....

Just to be clear.... Someone, without permission from the developer, collects and distributes that developers instruments and they are a community hero...

While someone who has the developers permission to distribute, is using their own copies of the files purchased from that developer and other files sent straight from the developer to distribute - and is adding both free content and modestly priced content to cover the hosting - is just a greedy bastard attempting to suck all traffic on the internet to their own website?

Further, Guido never knew Winny was hosting his instrument, illegally.... So Winnys argument that only Guido could tell him to stop is disingenuous.

It seems people would rather discuss motives or intent rather than the instruments themselves, or offer to share something for said instruments for the community....

Post

so true.

BTW...I will be uploading some soundsets/presets- whatever these things are- - there are probably going to be a fair bit more coming as well...once I figure my stupid folders out.

Thanks... :D But take your time. I have taken a much more relaxed approach to adding things for these. But I can bet that the people questioning my intent will be among the first to download anything that gets released for free....

Since ceasing to even consider releasing any more freebies for the AlgoMusic instruments - I have progressed work on Voyages 2, made new skins for both Wusik and Anomaly, sorted through all of the old Anomaly skins and culled many of them. I have actually gotten done some things that needed to be done. Because I ceased to keep the AlgoMusic instruments as a priority. And, sad to say, this is how it will stay for a while.

I have to continue working on Spectral Anomaly and other things after Voyages 2. I will get back to the AlgoMusic instruments, but at a much slower pace. Patience....

Meanwhile, anyone who is questioning my intent can step up and produce free content for the M42 in terms of sf2 files and/or presets. But I do not see them doing that, or even interested in talking about the instruments. After all - they have Komplete....

Now that's a tool worth having around.
