I checked the Image Line site earlier, but didn't see the demos (diff comp), but I do now. Thanks all!chk071 wrote:Or you can check the Image Line website. Lots of sound demos there.
Harmor = best additive resynthesizer?

just bought it, ok pardon it's the demo version still so strange sounds from demo coming:
1st is the sample, 2nd the dry resynthesized (i made a plucky pianolike sound) and then effected with EQ, reverb/shimmer &delay.

now i just need to find out how to attach a lfo to the loop marker i did so it gets synced. to host

Tbh Harmor is capable of sounding good but to me feels very much like a waste of a good concept. It's like all that great tech under the hood is just being used to do pretty basic subtractive synth stuff, when it would be far more interesting if the resynthesis technology was actually being used to morph between sounds and do something a bit more interesting.

That's the fault of the people using the synth and not the synth itself. I intend to really stretch this thing to the limits when I get it. After I have, I'll put up a demo so you can hear what this thing is capable of.aMUSEd wrote:Tbh Harmor is capable of sounding good but to me feels very much like a waste of a good concept. Probably going to purchase sometime before the sale ends.

Funny, i use Harmor only for stuff that is def NOT possible with subtractive synthsaMUSEd wrote:It's like all that great tech under the hood is just being used to do pretty basic subtractive synth stuff...
Some sounds i've made 2011 only with the oscs (no resynthesis used):

Thanks for that. Very cool. No, I know of no basic subtractive synth that can do all that. And those are still, what I consider, basic sounds.Wildfunk wrote:Funny, i use Harmor only for stuff that is def NOT possible with subtractive synthsaMUSEd wrote:It's like all that great tech under the hood is just being used to do pretty basic subtractive synth stuff...

I intend to crack this thing wide open.

Yep... they are just ideas and made within the first weeks of Harmor.wagtunes wrote:And those are still, what I consider, basic sounds.
Just to show the difference between additive and subtractive (as everybody expects glassy sounds and "envolving" pads from additive synths).
I'm mainly into chords and stabs, no ambient/drones/pads... so no experimental stuff.

I too wish there was morphing but that doesn't mean you can't do really interesting things to resynthesizes sounds. In fact you can do much more in terms of manipulation than just morhping.aMUSEd wrote:Tbh Harmor is capable of sounding good but to me feels very much like a waste of a good concept. Yeah, not really. Nothing so far does what Alchemy does for me.Neon Breath wrote:Image-Line are gonna be winner here, with the death of Alchemy for the additive and resynthesis users / seekers.

I know, it's not a perfect double replacement. But still, it's pretty much the closest thing available for additive and sample / image resynthesis.BBFG# wrote:Yeah, not really.
