Thanks for putting this post up, just bought at such a sweet price.
Going to try and get some crazy soundscapes out of this beast.

Any advice on getting some dark twisted sci-fi pad sounds/drones/soundscapes?

cheers

:D I still explore new things in Harmor every day... after 3,5 years of usage (and reading the manual of course). And i just talk about the oscs sections... not even the resynthesis part. Since Harmor i've bought no other synths anymore. We are waiting for your "350 patches for Harmor"! ;)
After I finish my current project (350 patches for The Mangle) Harmor has just shot up to the top of the list of synths to work on.

That's great! I loved your patches for Serum, Mr. wagtunes, can't wait to see what you can do with that Harmor beast! (my wallet is ready). There is (unfortunately) a severe lack of commercial, quality patches for Harmor :(
Maybe because it's too complex or what?

This ... and it's not a popular synth like Sylenth1 (so the patch designers stay away).

I have harmor but I prefer Loom (from AIR music tech).

The UI just makes more sense to me... though sonically both sound good.

here's a video that explains it

Probably part of the reason that it's not huge on presets banks is that it hasn't been cross-platform so far. Patch designers are much smarter to put time into something that both mac and PC users will buy. But for Harmor that is changing thankfully. Unfortunately though they are working on their whole line simultaneously so Harmor gets slowed down by all that stuff, including FL Studio itself.

I love the specs and sounds of Harmor, but I just cannot stand the GUI/workflow/layout, however you want to call it.
The modulation system feels a lil crude. Too much clicking, basically...
I much with it now and then and always leave feeling frustrated. Like its work. While Massive/Serum are just a playground.

Yep but Mac means only ~10% more customers.

There are several "problems" with Harmor:

- the generic trance/house presets are missing ;)
- price is expensive ($149, discounts excluded)
- the synth itself is very complex
- marketed as a dubstep/ambient synth
- only available for PC
- it's a niche synth with not many buyers
- there are no commercial soundbanks at all

So if create a Harmor "Deep House" soundbank perhaps only 5% of the owners are "interested" (not buyers by default!) and it's very hard to reach those people.

Yup, after playing with Serum mostly for the last few months dabbling in Harmor definitely feels like a lot of effort. It doesn't immediately engage me like Serum did from the moment I opened the GUI for the first time, and is probably on the opposite end of the spectrum as far as usability goes for me. I like the strum feature (made a similar feature request a while back for Serum), it has an arp, and the reverb, though nothing special, isn't horrible like Serum's.

Not seeing the modulation range and current position on the controls feels like a big step backward. It's incredibly nice for me to open a patch and instantly see all the modulation at work. I also miss not seeing the control values in a tooltip while adjusting controls. Having reset in a context menu rather than simply ctrl-clicking is odd/pointless.

It would be nice if you could toggle through timbres.

Is there no tempo sync for the delay?

Can a single envelope/LFO be assigned to modulate more than one control?

When I click on the image section a file explorer opens with a handful of images in the Data/Images folder, but I can't figure out how to load one. Double-clicking on one opens it in the Windows 8 image viewer. If I try to drag the image from the folder back into Harmor it still shows a circle with a line through it and doesn't let me drop it there. I'm using Cubase 8.05 if that makes a difference.

In the native version of Harmor it's shown in the FL's "hint bar".

Which DAW do you use? I toggle through the timbes/waveforms in FL's browser... skipping/loading in one step.

time - The bi-directional slider sets delay time in measures (top half) and milliseconds (bottom half).

from the manual: "time - The bi-directional slider sets delay time in measures (top half) and milliseconds (bottom half)" So the upper half will be syncing with tempo
(oh- it seems Wildfunk has already written it before me)

I don't know if there is a way to assign the same envelope/LFO but I use "copy state" and then paste it.

I just drag the image or audio from the explorer and drop it into Harmor's img place, you can copy and paste into your fav image editor and make some changes then copy and paste it back to Harmor.

But I agree with you in the end that Harmor is not easy to program at all. It requires patience and repeating reading the manual (which is very concise). There is a good tutorial in macProVideos.com about it. It can help a lot as a crash course.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

are you running as admin? then you can't drop anything (sound files, pictures, anything) onto Cubase. basically, the whole drag and drop process runs code, so they don't let an insecure (non-admin) process drag and drop to admin processes.

if you can run both programs as admin, then you'll be able to drag and drop at will. you can't run file explorer as admin, but you can run something third party like explorer++ and run that as admin...

This guy's patches are all great quality if you like EDM.

Ah, it is the same in the VST version. I just missed it.

I'm using Cubase, and I imagine it's the same. In order to start toggling through waveforms I have to first open a file explorer, find the timbres, and then the up and down arrows will toggle through them. I'd just like to be able to toggle through them without having to first open and locate them in a file explorer.

Thanks

This method I've had success with. Loading directly from a folder still eludes me though. Chroma mentioned admin mode and I'm pretty sure I'm running everything in admin mode, but will double-check this tomorrow.
