I have a friend who works in the industry of music software and he tells me that the next company who will close soon is Ohmforce.
He tells me this information but I don't know if it true.
Ohmstudio was a bit non success (release 2013) and we don't see new products for long time...

I have a friend who works at a Cafe and I can tell you that the rumours are true.

I give this information because if you buy this synthesizer now, you don't know if you get ever updates in futures. Like the situation with Camel Audio.
When a company don't release new products, it's hard to be competitive on the market. And also I have bad feelings about the continuation of Ohmforce. No new announcements, ...

Why do you think any company will be around in 5 years? Urs could get hit by a bus crossing the street, and u-he would cease giving updates.MillerSam wrote:I give this information because if you buy this synthesizer now, you don't know if you get ever updates in futures. I understand, that seems to be the kvr mentality, worried about updates rather than what a product does now.
But actually, you've just heard something and are spreading a rumor. You don't have a clue if it's true or not, but you feel the need to repeat it.

Yes I unterstand this
I have also products from them and love them but after Camel Audio (Quick shut down + downloads until mid 2015), we are more attentive with companies who are very calm

Yes Ohmstudio was released 2013 but it was calm about this.
It is released but I don't know if there are many people who use this online DAW

ah, yes. because every single employee in a given business sector, right down to the secretaries and cleaning ladies, is also an expert on every single other business in that sector right down to prescience about their finances and company decisions.MillerSam wrote:I have a friend who works in the industry of music software and he tells me that the next company who will close soon is Ohmforce.
(strangely this prescience is never present for employees within companies which shut down, but there ya go).

Red is Red and anything that is Red is an object, a class in itself or a real thing if you prefer"

It's an rumor !!!
But if it's true don't panic like Camel Audio : my licences, my updates ....
I love their products, their are very special but we don't see any new features, updates very long now. Is this true?? My opinion yes
No information about new features in Ohmstudio
...
Symptohm is great but also not updates since 05/2013 :S
Please, it's an rumor but this is an opinion of me. Alchemy was the beast but it now dead.
Harmor will coming to Mac - finally - good decision
I hope on Ohmforce in 2015, that they will update maybe with new features ...
We will see what 2015 will bring us on news

Their last plugin, Ohmicide, originally came out in 2007, about three years after their previous plugin. They've very clearly kept going despite only having released two new plugins in ten years, so one would have thought that if they were about to fold, it would have kinda happened by now.

A lot of developers have regular day jobs so are happy to be on cruise control, providing updates and support as necessary and releasing new plugins only when the opportunity presents itself (extra time and resources). Not that there is anything wrong with this. I am happy that Ohmforce are even on 64-bit. Some take a more proactive approach and invest in, and produce new stuff because it's their raison d'etre. Nothing wrong with that either.

To tell the truth I would not be surprised. All their plugins are ages old. They have done absolutely nothing new (the new cloud DAW excluded) for years. They even haven't done any meaningful updates to any of their plugins. Sure, not that they need anything particular but Ohmforce has been pretty much in a cryosleep for a long time.
The new cloud DAW, Ohmstudio, was a bit hohm-hum. Pretty pointless.

I would indeed say that. The odd thing about harmor is that it doesn't describe the way in which it manipulating the sound on the gui in a very meaningful way. Also the modulation rig is not as quick to use as the one in alchemy. Also and I could be wrong one of my favorite things in alchemy was to import a complex sound and then be able to adjust and modulate the pulsewidth of all the partials with one knob. It allowed for a ton of sonic variation. I think that unless somebody else has bought alchemy and plans on putting it out with version 2 then harmor is the closest thing moving forward. Luckily alchemy runs rock solid on my system, needs no internet connection to reinstall and isn't missing anything I would want in that type of synth so I'm pretty sure I'll get plenty of mileage out of alchemy 1 yet.

Edit: unless I'm missing something major harmor doesn't do granular at all so if that's what you were into with alchemy (I personally felt that alchemy was pretty weak on the granular end) then harmor won't help. It also doesn't import multisamples. There really isn't anything available that covers all the ground that alchemy did and does. I'm sure the current build will continue working on the PC platform for years to come though (Apple seems to have a boner for updating their OS at an alarming rate while neglecting backward compatibility) and there still seem to be license transfers happening so it can be had and I would still highly recommend buying it as is. It's an amazing musical tool.
