Damn, this is really frustrating... Every so often this VSTi shuts down and the sound stops. Sometimes when editing, sometimes just while playback, but not with all patches. Only thing that helps is completely reloading the instrument and loading the patch again. Cannot reproduce it on purpose.
Anyone else having these problems? I am on Cubase 6.5.4, 32bit.
At the moment i cannot see finishing anything this month with this synth... which would be too bad because I really like my new song idea.

Just submitted my track:
https://soundcloud.com/ballacr75/ballacr75-elapsus
ballacr75 - elapsus
made in Renoise 3.0 with 7 tracks of eclipsis vsti
used only renoise native effects: eq, filters, compression, parameter automation.

I have to agree there Richard. The GUI design is very good, and highly intuitive. Given that each OSC tab has a filter section of its own, I wonder why there wasn't 3 FX sections? Perhaps a distortion effect would be nice too.RichardSemper wrote: And your vst skills... Eclipsis is imo a great synth with some superb ideas very well implemented. I am having great fun playing with it. The interface is particularly good, tabbed layout for Oscs, routing and effects is highly intuitive and easy to use.
I managed to run 21 instances, but it certainly got to the point where it simply just could not cope. Given that a lot of folk are seeing some instability across a number of DAWs, it's probably the various combos were are programming vs the DAW which is upsetting something. I do suspect something now in the audio buffering part as when I did load up 21 instances it ran for a bit before cutting out - basically as buffers filled up.I find it stable on my system (though it maxes the cpu at 10 instances)
That said though, with judicious use, lots of saving and freezing, you can get there.
Yes, some excellent features here, and you are right, other synth devs could learn a lot. It does sound good too. I thoroughly enjoyed programming the sounds for my little "ditty".I also really like that you can save settings for each osc, routing, and effects bank. Other Devs could learn from this! Also it really sounds great!![]()

so i say keep up the good work

I have Cubase 6.0.x 32bit and works fine so far. Maybe you could try that old hack where you copy and paste multiple versions of the DLL file with a post-fix 1,2,3,4 and use a different dll for each instance?fese wrote:Damn, this is really frustrating... Still playing with eclipsis,i got a weird "effect" this night.
Would you guys try to reproduce it?
Step 1: make a patch with a plain Sine wave for all the OSC. I took care to put everything else at 0, or at the first lower available value (mods, effects, filters, everything is initialized to the lowest possible value/choice (dunno if this matters, but i've done it anyway). Set master volume to something that doesn't break your ears and gears, and set two OSC volume to 100.
Step 2: Put your sequencer tempo to 120BPM, and draw a C5 note 8 bar long (that is a 16 second note).
Step 3: play it. To me, there's a phasing effect and when around 4 seconds my output volume goes completly down, as if the two sines are of the opposite sign and so producing "0". Try any combo of two of the 3 OSC.
Did it happens to you also?
I think it shouldn'nd happens, anyway....

Can you share your patch? I just used the init patch (see the OP post for link) and did what you said... sounds fine.Parduz wrote:Still playing with eclipsis,i got a weird "effect" this night.

Is anyone else using FL Studio? I'm having trouble getting the pitch wheel from my master controller to affect eclipsis. I see that when I move the wheel, it affects the channel in FL, but FL is not passing the data to the synth, or at least the synth is not responding.
I'd appreciate any tips...

Yes, I encountered the same effect. I'd agree that the sines seem to be slightly out of phase. I tried to correct it with the phase control, but no dice.Parduz wrote:Still playing with eclipsis,i got a weird "effect" this night.

I ran into similar problems when trying to make a kick drum from scratch. Every few drum hits would sound much quieter that the surrounding ones. There was no modulation in my patch at all, and also no effects. I just could not identify the source of the "amplitude modulation". Eventually, I discovered I could increase the voices parameter from 1 to 2, and that fixed it. But it doesn't seem to do anything for this particular issue.
if anyone else cares to investigate further, I've uploaded a preset.
Anyway, no big deal. I guess this is part of the charm of working with freeware. It's kinda fun to just say "oh well" and keep plugging away. After all, a guitarist would never stop the show just because 1 string got a little out of tune.

As well as I do and OSC also seems to be fun and relaxationTrojakEW wrote:Im not going to join OSC. I do this stuff just for fun and as a relaxation.

I hope I don`t get punished if I do, I mean saying something nice about it. I`ve listened the new uploads now and all I can say is: Hey you are completely nut, you know? Those are all wonderful melancholic melodies which show some skills you cannot hide
I like and comment it later. I will have off tonight and finaly a bit more time again for the next 3 days.

Same for me. No pitch-wheel control.esteband wrote:Is anyone else using FL Studio? I'm having trouble getting the pitch wheel from my master controller to affect eclipsis. Also, i downloaded at the starting of this OSC a patch called Init (Mojo).
I load it and i and put all OSC volume to 100, and all OSC Sustain to 100. OSC3 is detuned by an halftone, but the OSC tab does'nt show nothing ("Semitone=0"). If you move the Semitone value to something else and then put it back to 0 the detuning is gone.
Eclipsis seems a promising instrument, and some idea in it are great, but it needs some care, some debug and allows some MIDI controls to be a finished product.

Hey guys, new to OSC and KVR.
I just found out about OSC last month and thought it was an awesome idea. I'm normally super shy, hardly ever post on forums, don't put my music online or anything, but this all seems like too much fun to pass on, so I think it's time to start being a part of things.
I actually wish I found out about it sooner, I missed so many good ones.
I was a bit intimidated by it all last month so I didn't join in. But at the beginning of this month I learned about a cool looking synth called Eclipsis and downloaded it. Next I checked the OSC page to see what this month's synth was... well how's that for coincidence?
So that's probably like the internet telling me to give it a shot or something.
So here I am.
Oh and great stuff on here so far btw, I can't wait to hear the rest.

Regarding phase offset in oscillator: Well the problem is even fine tuning show 0 it actually not zero. I will look in that matter and try to fix it in next version. But there is workaround for it. Just clik with righ mouse button to set it to zero and everything works fine. There is more problems in that matter. What values are actually shown may not be real value in more controls (some rounding problems) for example number o voices.
esteband: I 'm sorry that I can't help in that matter. Hope someone else with external controler device experience can help in this.
Mojo42: I have no musical education and I don't even know musical notes. Also I don't play on any instruments. But even without knowledge I know my composition are too simple and pathetic
