So I put a track up yesterday, Synthetik. Donkey Tugger kindly wrote an excellent string section and this is the end result:

It's a biggie, hence the download options, first one is 6.8mb and the second one is 11.3mb.

Yep you are definately a Crystal method fan. Join the club. Excellent tune, the drums are a bit loud in the beginning, especially when they kick in at around 1.26 and there's a bit too much reverb on the snare before that. Once all the sounds start kicking in, the level seems more equal.

And then we get some Hybrid (finished symphony). Nice.

I'd wish the string didn't go on every bar ie. string - 2 - 3 - 4 - string etc. But once they get out of that, they are cool.

There's some really phat acidlines in there

I wouldn't mind if you cut 1 or 2 min. of the tune, but that's just me.
It's a shame the strings don't show up a bit earlier instead of just playing constantly for the last 4 min. You could have them playing for 1-2 min. earlier on and a bit less in the end. They do go on a bit.

What instruments are you using?

This is one of the best tunes I've heard on kvr, top class.

this is nice. i love the sample of Bishop aka Lance Henriksen! though i think it is bording on over-using it in your song.

i agree with Armadillo that the strings are used a bit too stiff now and too much towards the end.

the song may be too long, i guess that it would be better if it was somewhat shorter. it seems unnececary long from time to time. the samll tention / pressure that it builds up towards the end is nice.

First thing I heard this morning, real cool. Acid lines need more overdrive though, I think. Alot more.

I'm a big CM fan, this sounds excellent.

thanks for listening guys. drums eh?:lol: It's funny 'cos I lost my settings somehow when reworking this tune and I had a feeling they might be a bit verby at the beginning, duly noted and will be corrected. As for the structure, well, I wanted to make an epic track so I shall probably leave it as it is, although I might find a way to slip the strings in earlier on as well.

Absolutely brilliant.

I'm a big fan of Hybrid, having lived in Swansea (where they were based). I used to go to see their live DJ sets quite a lot. This reminds me so much of them, and therefore I love it!...

Mind you they had the advantage of hiring the Russian Symphony orchestra (I think) for their album. But the strings in here hold up well, and I think work really well.

As I said superb stuff... When you have a full album's worth I'll be first on the list to buy it..

Turned out nicely anyhow!

I was thinking that if you wanted to introduce the string melody earlier on you could have something like a dark sounding piano, of a short synth sound play it through a delay for a dubby kind of effect, perhaps an octave down.

I shall see what that turns out like, possibly might do more than one version as someone else has offered to work with me.

Unless of course you wanna write something pianoish...

We could work on the tune over a period of a few weeks and slowly edge out all of my bits

Great strings added DT

A very haunting quality feel it is adding to this. A shame though you lost the drum-settings Cypha, I can only hope you retrieve them. The way you had them on the original were crispy and pushing.

-I like much ( litterally ) the progressive aspect ,( the way it comes, goes... and come back !)

-strings are maybe a bit dry to my taste in their introduction (...but a deep, amazing, melancholic contribution of them inside the composition !)

-i like the punchy introduction of the drums part and the gate reverb (???...ER...what kind ?) treatment in perfect equilibration

-can't say much more : musically talking, not exactly my cup of tea,( apart from the totally unexpected string section ... i think this choice was a brilliant idea ! )
