Very impressive looking skin :tu:
Where are the settings and options buttons going to go on the finished skin ?
I would suggest to move the logo again into the panel, which currently is under construction, and place the missing buttons into the top panel.

I thought the previous incarnation lacked a bit of contrast, but your update solves that.

Really great job there!

In Legato mode, I found some synth which do retrigger: e.g. Arturia Mini V, while others don't: Korg Legacy MS20, Poly-Ana (in legato mode), or in fact the hardware JX-8P.
Oh, Poly-Ana doesn't retrigger on it? I suppose I should follow my own advice and change that!

Surprised the real JX-8P doesn't do it. As a real MIDI device, there are no timestamps on the MIDI events, so only their order matters. It's impossible for two events to come in at the same time. The note off must be coming out of the MIDI cable after the next note on, no? (Which is still kind of undefined as now it's the host's behavior of which event with the exact same timestamp it's going to send out to the MIDI interface first.)

Is that .mid data still there for me to test with? (EDIT: Got it, thanks!) This is good timing, I'm working on it right now.

I actually liked it better when it was grey-er. It looks like Darth Vader's JX-8P now. $0.02 :)

I have to agree. I got an association to a piece of military h/w – a bit intimidating and sombre. I definitely liked the mid grey base colour much better. This one doesn't feel as inviting.

Dont worry, it wont stay that dark.

Martin has also told me that the real synth doesnt have a metal casing, so i will have to work it over one more time anyway.

(Goes to show how much you can trust pictures on the internet. I have downloaded over half a dozen of images from different sources and on all of them the synth looks like it has a metal casing.)

BTW, whilst looking for images on google i came across this picture.

Its looks awefully plastic so its not something id copy even if i were allowed to, but what do you think about the greytone.

Would something like this be about OK with respect to brightness and overall contrast?

Definitely plastic. VERY plasticy. :)

For what it is worth:

My JX8P is plastic but painted. Unfortunately, a lot of the paint around the pitchbend and volume slider has worn off due to hard use. It would be difficult to match. (And I need to fix the aftertouch!)

The PG-300 is metal...and darker and not so brownish though, color-wise, it doesn't match the Juno it programs. The PG-800 was, I suspect, much warmer in hue.

But I have been happy with several of your versions, especially 25014535_wip.png, the membrane-type selectors and their colors look great :tu: , and I am sure I will be satisfied with whatever you finally decide.

Well i would love to decide for the right background color (that of the synth, not the programmer), but frankly finding the right tone is driving me nuts. Depending on which picture you see, one time its practically Technics-Brown and on the next picture it looks like 'icey-bleen', i.e. like a mix of blue and green and silver.

So whats the right one.

Is it this:

Or is it that:

This video seems to say its the second, but maybe the tone is just reproduced equally wrong.

ENV1 - the second pic is "that" (closer tone to that in the video).

ENV1:

Obviously two different paint schemes.

Mine resembles the first. Maybe they switched to black "end caps" because of the paint problem I have and, when they did, changed the color of the main body as well.

That new skin looks very good, congratulation !

A bassist friend of mine has one, and we gig together from time to time.
It looks more like the picture from "greatsynthesizer.com" (so, "this")

But the tone can depend on the light in the room, where the light sources comes from, etc.

Post

Clearly, there are two different paint schemes.

But the 'brownish' one has a distinct overall red/yellow cast. As measured with the Eyedropper in PS on the upper part of the lower white keys: RGB = 242 218 208.
