Has something to do with transformer modeling.
It's not magical but quite useful. On a drum bus you can actually use the IStage to "let things go" like claps and snares while keeping the compression tight.zenvoxpop wrote:kj.metissage wrote:It's InterSTAGE.zenvoxpop wrote:Hey tony, what's ISTAGE?

Some LF phase rotation and other traffo voodoo stuff then. Nice, I knew it's something magical.
BTW: So based on looks alone, is it
LA opto kinda thing?
it's a switchable interstage transformer, which is located between the gain reduction stage and the final tube amp stage. It has several effects: less noise, less harmonic distortion, more accentuated highs. Since it's tuned quite slow it also has the effects, that Mercado Negro describes, letting some elements coming through, while still maintaining the dense compression character. Another thing it can do in certain situations is to soften signals a bit, that are too upfront.zenvoxpop wrote:Hey tony, what's ISTAGE?

It's the least challenging beta ever for me, as there seem to be no audio related bugs, no crashes or strange noise so far. It's almost a bit scary. However, I still need a few weeks, before I can release the new stuff. There are some controls, that are a bit challenging to find a sweet spot for some testers. That needs to be improved. I want this to be a comp, where you don't have to fiddle around with settings. I want it to work instantly. I think, it's safe now to post a quick render, as I consider the GUI pretty much finished now.
