Hello,
I am using a dell 600m with a digigram vx2. The minute I start any asio application, CPU spikes to 50%. I am using the latest drivers. I have disable speed step to no avail. Anyone aware of any praticualur issues that I might be dealing with?

If possible, try to check if your hardware is ok. A while ago someone wrote about the same topic and it turned that his cpu-fan was broken.
Also check if old drivers are proberly deinstalled. I think i have that problem right now with my audiophile, however i dont get spikes, but it doesnt work with voicechatprograms anymore (tech support suggested that)
How long have you had this problem? Did you do anything just before this problem occured?

This is a band new pc. The more I think about it, the more I think I m ight be overreacting. The CPU is a tad high, and Ive contacted the sound support. But It seems to be handleding everything I throw at it pretty well, and the latency is ultra low. It could be a consenquence of speed step on centrinos tha the cpu load is misreportred by windows...
I'll have to see if it actually has any negative effects before I worry more... Ive noticed that disabling inputs/outputs substantially reduce cpu load... but I haven't had a problem with audio dropping out yet..
