I like my strat, but need to modify it. It sounds ok, but it's a tad noisy (nothing else I own makes any noise) and I'd like something hotter.

So here is what the guitar looks like now........random pic off the net.

And this is what I just ordered...

I think it's gonna look great :hyper:
It's here but I'm holding off installing until after the weekend.....evil plan....all that jazz :hihi:

It is in player condition- 'tis pretty scuffed

I hope ur stoked on the new pickups H,
do you need to solder, and can u solder OK?
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

Open up the cavity. Many EMG's are solderless.

It's a neckthrough

As far as the price, I've seen it as low as 300 usd and mentioned years ago being about 2000 usd :o

I don't really know for sure but I'll scour SS.org and see if anyone has one.

This ESP Explorer MX250 sold for $5,495.94. As far as I can tell, it is the same model as yours:

If you'd like H, I would be interested to hear the new loaded pick guard man,
I like your playing too so, yeah.

That's wicked it went for so much,
thanks for the details Uncle E.
So here is tentative for sale attached to this guitar-
although I am tempted to try and keep it.
Make me and my mate an offer if you feel it's for you-
but please don't be disappointed if we keep it.
It's pretty beat up though, you can see some of the marks in the photos.

So Hetfield played this guitar in white, as this one-
before he got the signature snake bite.

I wrote to Uncle E that the action was good,
but on a reassessment-
it's not.
It's being a real 8itch to dial.
Any tips on setting a low action on an obstreperous neck?

It's best to start with the neck and frets. A Japanese ESP like this ought to be capable of epically good action.

I may have to find a good tech,
I am not willing to touch the frets with a file.
Will try again today, just on the nut and bridge screws

You may already know this, so forgive me if you've done this.....

Hold down the first fret with your left hand index finger and then on the 6th/Low E string, hold down the last fret with your right hand. If you stretch your left hand pinky to the 3rd fret, there should just be a slight amount of distance at the 3rd fret doing this (like a slight clinking sound). If it's a really big gap, it could be something as simply as adjusting the truss rod.

We'll talk more about truss rod adjusting later if you'd like, or if you've done that.....then I'll just shut the hell up :hihi:

That's a nice method described there H,
I will do that.
I have done half a dozen guitars truss rod/nut adjustment-
and all have been better ,
some excellently low.
I eyeball neck curvature, and check entire curvature by holding the first and 24th fret.
All my setups are good and quick to play.

I have adjusted the nut to high relief, and also to near straightness,
while keeping bridge height in mind and adjusting that too.
The sweet point for this one is just not in normal range.
hmm, just wondering what to try now.
Currently is a very slight concave, high bridge.
It is not a truly good action. The frets are worn in the low string/low frets,
this isn't helping, but IMO,
this may may not be the body of the problem.

Thanks for the tip!
hmm-- what a nummy guitar heh

Make sure not to over tighten or you could turn a $4,000 guitar into a $40 guitar (ok, maybe I'm overdramatizing ;)).

hmm, is that just if I break the truss rod?
I have done it up tight 3 times I think

Nah H, it's appreciated. It is that area of the neck which is problematic

edit- it still does what it's meant to do as far as I can gather
